Convert NTFS to ExFAT without data loss

Hello Zatoutesss and Zatousssss

Recently I had a problem with my NTFS hard drive
Can Chkdsk get stuck??

Now that it is repaired, or at least functioning more or less normally, I searched a bit on the Internet to see if it was possible to convert this hard drive to ExFat format without data loss, like I did with Ubuntu from Ext3 to Ext4, which I did a long time ago.

I called our German friends at WD, the manufacturer Western Digital, and their response to this question is: "send us your hard drive and we will give you a quote but it is possible." So it's not free, and it's quite possible that it will be more expensive than buying a new drive.

I also read online that NTFS formatting is not as great as it seems, well ‘I moderate my words’, technically NTFS is more fragile than ExFat, for example on the other hand it is much easier to repair, if we look at what happened to me that is true, but especially it is not compatible with everyone, such as Macs.

So knowing this excellent forum and the extraordinary capabilities of the contributors, I ask you this exact question: "Is it possible to change a hard drive from NTFS format to ExFat format without losing data and without risk but especially for free?"

Thanks to everyone.

    Hello,

Some utilities like EaseUS Partition Master claim to do this, but I am skeptical in the mentioned sense and I am not sure that the feature is only available in the paid version, probably the same goes for Aomei Partition Assistant.

Aside from NTFS permissions and using it on Mac without third-party software, I am also not sure about the usefulness and "robustness" of exFAT compared to NTFS.

      Ok #brucine

If I understand your insinuations correctly, it’s that after all, the NtFs format isn’t so bad, and staying in that format would be more beneficial for me.

I like to believe that you’re right; after what happened to me and its repair, the scales tip in that direction.

The main thing that would drive me to change is that my Grande only communicates through MacOs or Apple or iPad, and this disk isn't very compatible with her, 'if I may say so'. But darn, after all, this disk works well for me, so let her go f... f... no, that’s not true, I’m just joking.

      Thank you

Young people swear by Apple without really knowing why; it's like certain shoe brands, a must-have. And if we want to read and write NTFS on it, we can't do it straightforwardly.

We could theoretically do it from the Terminal, otherwise I believe all solutions like Paragon are paid, otherwise we have to stick with NTFS, too bad for the Miss.

NTFS has the disadvantage of its advantages; for example, if we move a system or internal drive from one PC to another, we need to take ownership of the rights, which complicates things in a data recovery scenario.
