Managing spam is becoming increasingly unmanageable for me

Hello,

I have been using Thunderbird for ages and I am increasingly facing problems likely due to poor settings.

Here are a few of them:

1- If I mark messages automatically sent to the junk as acceptable, they go to the inbox, but then immediately return to junk as soon as I click on them.

2- A large number go directly to the trash for unknown reasons, but are considered unread.

3- When I add the sender's address to the "address book," it makes no difference; the next ones still go to junk.

I'm certainly forgetting some, but I should mention that I preferred not to use SpamAssassin.

Thank you in advance.

I am 82 years old, and navigating between the globally provided help and the account-related help is extremely difficult to manage!

For example, in my case number 1, I can't understand why it doesn't work.

For number 3, I clearly indicated that senders in personal address or collected address should be considered acceptable, but nothing works.

In the meantime, I created a subfolder called "False Spam" where I click on "acceptable" or on the red symbol so I can read the mail.

    to be continued......

Well, given that I find it too cumbersome and not necessarily straightforward to read and understand the entire Thunderbird manual on the principle of making acceptable messages deemed unacceptable, I am limiting myself, for now, to my solution of the "False Junk" subfolder which works well until I have the courage to switch email clients.

To complete my topic, I just realized that I haven’t received any incoming mail since November 2025 (thankfully, it's not my only email account). I sent myself a "test" email from another one of my email accounts with "test" in the subject and content, and it ended up in the spam folder!!!

    Funny, isn't it?
