Hello everyone,
I just upgraded my wife's laptop from Windows 10 to 11, and everything went smoothly despite Microsoft announcing a compatibility issue with the processor.
Everything is fine except that today, when she starts the computer, it runs for a few seconds and then stops without any alert being displayed. It was working fine under Windows 10, do you have any idea what might be happening?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and responses; if you know anything, I'm all ears....
Best regards

Hello

It seems very badly off at the moment. Try a startup repair from the install USB, it might unblock things.

If not, I can only suggest a complete reinstall.

If it was an upgrade, you'll need to manually extract all data to an external drive using a Linux Live-CD; the reinstall will erase everything and it’s easy to forget to do that.

For the reinstallation, you'll need to recreate the USB. Since you're going to remake it, you might as well follow this builder (link). It worked really well for upgrading a very old laptop that was obviously not "compatible" (lol). I haven't yet done the version upgrade on my gaming tower but that will come soon. Be careful, it takes a few hours to run and you shouldn't stay too far away.

Keep me updated on this or if you find any other less drastic options.

If other helpers have suggestions, go for it!

P.S.: from a Ubuntu Live-CD, you can do a check on the disk if it is still visible (link). This will help determine if the problem is hardware or software.

If the Live-CD doesn’t boot, that means the issue is likely hardware-related elsewhere (like RAM), coincidentally happening at the same time.
