Hello, I have built my new PC and I can't install the Windows installation support; the blue screen displays "DPC Watchdog Violation"

and I can't resolve the issue!!

My configuration is:

-Case: MSI MAG Forge 120A Airflow Mid Tower ATX PC Case

-CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F

-Motherboard: Gigabyte 650 Eagle AX

-RAM: Crucial Pro RAM DDR5 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36, Overclocking Gaming, Intel XMP 3.0 / AMD Expo

-SSD: Crucial P310 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280 Internal Gaming SSD, Up to 7,100 MB/s

-GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB

If anyone has encountered this issue or knows a solution to this bug, I’m all ears.

Thank you!!

First, are you sure you connected the HDMI screen cable to the GTX 970 GPU, not to the motherboard?

And with the minimum of other devices connected? (Keyboard, mouse, screen, to start with.

Even the mouse can cause issues; if it's wireless, you might need to disconnect the dongle after the first installation step (File copying) before rebooting and configuring.

You need to download the drivers from the manufacturers' websites and extract them into folders using 7-Zip, or by executing them on another PC in %LocalAppData%\Temp, unless the file allows extracting the content directly.

You can help yourself by clearing the %Temp% folder beforehand with ATF-Cleaner

Download NTLite

The Windows ISO, but you need to use Edge (On Windows) to get the F12 option and then with the three dots at the top left Device Emulation (To get the .WIM version instead of .ESD if you click directly on the button to download)

Then reload the page a second time

https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

Add the Windows ISO to the NTLite program, 'Load' a version of Windows to be modified, then you can drag the driver folders.

You will subsequently have the option to add the drivers to all images, do it, even if it results in an ISO of 10GB or more; it will require a large USB key, and I use Ventoy to create a bootable USB, which doesn't prevent you from testing something else.

Then you export an ISO file called NTLite.iso

Create the USB with Ventoy in GPT mode and with Secure Boot Support or not depending on your Secure Boot in the BIOS, Secure Boot sometimes adds complications to booting, a complication sometimes, but some game anti-cheats require it, to prevent any unsigned driver from being loaded and cheating.

Copy the Windows ISO onto it next to boot into Ventoy, and then onto the ISO

Note: With Ventoy, the ISO must not have spaces in its name.

Hello,

Are you trying to install it with the 24H2 version from the Microsoft site?

This error may indicate a graphics driver issue.

You can try integrating the drivers into the ISO with NTLite before using it to install.

Thank you for this information, I kind of suspected that it was my old graphics card causing the problem!! But my knowledge is relatively limited, could you tell me more about the procedure to "integrate the drivers into the ISO with NTLite before using it to install"

Thank you.

Thank you Fabul for all these explanations, which I completely get lost in!! (given my minimal knowledge of computers). I will see if I can find a more recent graphics card from friends to test, and see if the problem indeed comes from the GPU; if so, I will invest in a more recent second-hand card.

Again, a big thank you for your investment in my post!!

Hello, my problem persists!! I tested the RAM, no issues on that side, I also tested with a newer graphics card and the problem doesn't come from that either! Do you have any other solutions to suggest to try to resolve my issue? Thank you.

Is the BIOS updated? (F36a)

To enter the BIOS, press the Delete key

You didn't specify whether it's the Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX rev. 1.0/1.1 or rev. 1.2

It should be written in the bottom left corner of the motherboard

Here for rev. 1.0/1.1
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B650-EAGLE-AX-rev-10-11/support

Here for rev. 1.2
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B650-EAGLE-AX-rev-12

You can format your USB drive and check it with H2testw

https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/11535-h2testw/

Check the Windows ISO by right-clicking 7-Zip (Open archive > Test)

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

If there are no errors, prepare the USB drive again with Rufus

https://rufus.ie/fr/

Use this link to download the Windows ISO to create a USB drive (minimum 8GB) to update, repair, or install Windows

https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

When you have the Windows ISO file, you can create a bootable USB drive with Rufus

In GPT mode for EFI

Boot from it using the PC Boot Menu key (F12)

You can search on Google "[Brand Model] Boot Menu Key"

Choose "Custom Installation" (Not upgrade)

Delete all system partitions and create a new one (This deletes the data).

Thank you for the explanations. So basically I have the motherboard (rev 1.1) F36a. I just re-did the Q-flash with the latest version from the Gigabyte site to be sure.

I just prepared the USB key as described.

But before restarting an installation attempt, I would like to know if I also need to update the other drivers, such as (drivers, audio, chipset, LAN, SATA), etc...

And if so, should I put them on the same key?

Thank you.

If the installation with the Windows ISO doesn't work, it's either corrupted files, a corrupted USB drive, or a lack of drivers in the ISO contents.

Unless it's the SSD that's corrupted.

At what exact point does it crash, before or after the file copying?

The simplest way to add drivers to the ISO is NTLite.

Otherwise, you need to use 7-Zip, DISM in command line, and a software that handles ISO files (more complicated).

Hello, it crashes at around 50% and I think the SSD is the cause. Because when I start the installation, it offers me the storage option of my drive, but when I go into the BIOS and then "boot," it's not visible!

It is: Crucial P310 / SSD PCIe Gen4 NVMe 2280 M.2

And I don't know if all 3 ports on my motherboard are compatible with this model.

For now, it's in the first port with the heatsink. And I don't know if I can put it in the other ports that don't have a heatsink to test.

Furthermore, I have a bit of trouble understanding the explanations in the motherboard manual to know if I chose the right port? If this SSD is compatible? And if I can switch ports without risking overheating the SSD?

Any tips in this regard would be welcome.

Thank you.

Hello again,

Is it on the M2A_CPU?

This is the one they mention on page 25 of the English manual.

And to check its status with CrystalDiskInfo in Hiren's Boot CD PE

https://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ (HBCD_PE_x64.iso)

And Rufus

https://rufus.ie/fr/

Create a bootable USB drive of Hiren's Boot CD PE using Rufus

In GPT mode for EFI

Boot from it using the PC's Boot Menu (F12)

Use (In Hiren's Programs) under Hard Disk Tools > Diagnostics > CrystalDiskInfo and see if the drive is detected as Good.

Thank you, indeed the SSD is on the M2A, but I have a problem using Hiren's Boot CD PE. I manage to download it, and it creates a "setup" folder in my downloads. When I launch this setup, I land on an "Adaware web companion" page? When I click on start the installation, nothing happens!

If I switch to Rufus and click "Select," I have to go through all the folders to find the (setup) of Hiren's. When I want to select it, I get a message saying (this image is not bootable or not compatible with Rufus).

Any idea about my problem?

Thank you.

Hello

What is the power supply for the PC?

Where did you get the Windows 11 ISO?

How are the RAM sticks installed, in which slots?

Perfect, and with that you create a bootable USB drive in UEFI with Rufus?

"I can't install the installation media" in other words?

Hello Fabul, and thank you very much for your help and the time you dedicated to trying to assist me.

But I've found and solved the problem! I had thought about it from the beginning but didn't know it was possible without Windows. In fact, the SSD was in GPT, and it needed to be switched to MBR. I didn't know we could access the command prompt directly! For your information, you can access it by launching the installation from the Windows USB stick, and when you reach the page asking for the Windows key, just press enter and immediately press another key on the keyboard, any key, and there you are in the command prompt.

I think you know what to do next.

I'm providing the title of a video (I can't insert links) that explains the procedure very well below, for others who might have the same problem and come across this!!

"Convert MBR to GPT and GPT to MBR"

Hello, this error can be caused by various reasons, such as a configuration issue or driver corruption, corruption of system files by malware or viruses, or a driver conflict after the installation of new hardware.

There are several methods to resolve this error, such as disabling fast startup, checking if the hard drive is damaged, updating chipset drivers, reinstalling display drivers in safe mode, installing all available Windows updates, or performing a complete system scan.
