Hello,
I have lost the autocomplete feature for words when writing a text message.
Previously, when I typed the first letters of a word, it would suggest a list of words starting with the letters I had typed. I no longer have this function, so I have to type all the letters of the word.
Could you please tell me what I need to do to restore this feature?
Thank you.
Michel

Hello,
Could you tell me what to do to restore this function? Well, not really, no, without knowing exactly what phone it is, otherwise check the user manual or visit the manufacturer's FAQ on their website if it exists.
It's a Xiaomi M11 Lite phone.
I didn't specify which phone it was because I thought it was an issue that could occur on any Android phone and therefore could be resolved regardless of the phone as long as it's not an Apple.
Hello,
Predictive text does not directly depend on the phone brand but on the keyboard manager being used and the application that utilizes it.
Xiaomi phones may use a proprietary keyboard application, but I don't think so, and in any case, the settings are available when using an application that calls on the keyboard.
Generally, it is Gboard; when composing a text message, the keyboard appears below with a menu bar above; it's the gear icon that allows access to settings including text correction (suggestions, corrections, spelling, grammar...).
Hello,
Thank you for your response.
So it is this menu bar that has disappeared.
I will see if it is possible to make it reappear.
Have a good day

Start by checking which keyboard is installed.
At home, it's under additional settings - keyboard and input method, which may vary by brand.
Check what is active in the current keyboard and if there are multiple installed in manage keyboards, which allows you to define which one is active.
If it is not installed, and for what it's worth, Gboard can be obtained from the Play Store.
