Expired coverage message. Why?

Hello. I have an iPhone XR. It works quite well. I wanted to do the available update and I saw in settings, general: apple care and warranty, and when I go in there, I read: iPhone (coverage expired) and Apple watch (coverage expired).
So I'm wondering. What does that mean and how can I fix it? I am receiving notifications, I can make calls. Really strange. Thank you for your help. Best regards.

Hello.

I read: iPhone (coverage expired) and Apple Watch (coverage expired).

This means that the Apple warranty has expired.

Ok, thank you very much. I hadn't realized and I hadn't paid attention to it. Thanks again.

Hello,

If your AppleCare+ contract has recently expired, you may be able to extend the coverage.
