The new Firefox 133 sidebar won't disappear

Hello,

My DELL "tower" PC, purchased refurbished in 2021, updated to the new version of FIREFOX 133 automatically on 11/26/24.
However, since then I have the "Sidebar," which I have no use for, that is permanently displaying on the left side of the screen!
I've tried everything: it's impossible to get rid of this sidebar that takes up at least 10 cm of my view on the FIREFOX browsing screen.
Can someone help me make this "Sidebar" go away please?
Thank you in advance
Hervé F.

Hello,

Removing the left vertical sidebar with the Firefox configuration editor:

Open Firefox or open a new tab.

Type or copy-paste ==► about:config

Press the '' Enter'' key on the keyboard.

Or click on ''about:config'' then paste and open.

Click on ==►Accept the risk and continue.

In the ''Search preference name'' box:

Copy-paste ==► sidebar.revamp

If the preference is bold and has a value of true, double-click it to restore the default value of false.

Close Firefox.

Restart Firefox.

Experimental feature:

It may be an experimental feature: Firefox Labs

Open Firefox or open a new tab.

Type or copy-paste ==►about:preferences#experimental

Click on ==► Default configuration

Close Firefox.

Restart Firefox.

Increase or decrease the Firefox sidebar:

When the sidebar is open "Ctrl + H" position the pad or mouse cursor to increase or decrease it.

Hold the cursor on the double arrow, move to the right (increase) or to the left (decrease).

Release the cursor when you find the right distance:

Example if the sidebar is increased:

Move the Firefox sidebar to the right or left:

"Ctrl + H"

Click on History or Bookmarks or Synchronized Tabs or if enabled on AI Chatbot.

then ==► Move the sidebar to the right

Or ==► Move the sidebar to the left

Good evening,

Thank you very much Mr. "Pistouri"!,

I have completed step no. 1: Remove the left vertical sidebar using the Firefox configuration editor:

And it worked! I no longer have a sidebar on Firefox v 133; neither on the left nor on the right!

Thank you very much and looking forward to it!

Best regards

Hervé F.

Hello,

Which sidebar?

- History (Ctrl + H)

- Synced tabs (down arrow, Close sidebar)

- Bookmarks (Ctrl + B)

Or something else?

Hello,

Thanks to you, I was able to resolve, (by following your instructions), one part of the problem.

Instead of having a side panel almost 12 cm wide on the left of my screen, under FIREFOX V. 133; at least 8 centimeters have disappeared when I pressed "Ctrl + H" then "Synced Tabs", "Close Side Panel".

But, apparently, with this new version of Firefox 133, a "Side Panel" of 3 or 4 cm remains permanently on the left side of the screen. (or on the right, I can only switch it but can't make it disappear)...

Maybe we'll know more in a few days, as this version has just been updated.

Even though my problem is not completely resolved, thank you very much.

Best regards

HF

Hello,

This is not related to the version, I am not experiencing this behavior which many other users have reported.

Some sites (like CCM) have this display, but if it occurs everywhere, it's a setting from one of the side panels that we don't want and therefore need to uncheck.
