Odyssée G5 "flickering" issue

Hello,

Since yesterday, I've been having major issues with my G5 screen. I bought it three years ago, and everything was working fine. Yesterday, I wanted to follow a graphics settings forum and I reset my PC to factory settings.

When I rebooted the screen, there were no options to modify the image in the screen menu, and when I booted my PC, the image was flickering. For one second, I had my desktop, then a black screen, 1 second desktop, 1 second black screen. I waited for 5 minutes and nothing...

I thought to myself, "Oh no, what a fool...". From there, I checked various forums, but there's nothing on this topic. I changed cables, ports, power outlets, and power supply; I updated the Samsung firmware directly on the screen with a USB stick as instructed by Samsung, and still nothing... stuck since then...

Based on what I've tried, I think the issue comes directly from the screen, I'm missing something...

I'm out of ideas, help me, I love this screen!

Thank you

    Hello,

If it's not damaged, properly connected, and regardless of the settings, I don't see why the screen wouldn't display anything; there should at least be a subpar display with the default Windows screen driver.

The cause is more likely to be found in the meddling from your "graphics settings forum".

I would reinstall Windows without data loss from a USB installation key, or, if that's not enough, I would format after backing up the data to reinstall the specific drivers and software from scratch, after having checked and potentially undone any errant BIOS settings, of course.

Hello, I forgot to mention, the screen when it is not connected to the GPU, it doesn't flicker anymore and I have access to the monitor menu. However, I can't change the graphic settings, I only have access to the assistance and system options in the menu.

    Hello

"formatted my PC to factory settings"

If you have a backup, now is the time to use it; it would have all the drivers, all the programs, and all the data that were working well with the hardware.

Resetting to factory settings is for selling the PC; otherwise, it’s just to learn how to install a PC, all the programs, and to find all the drivers and settings that you spent hours assembling.

Hello, No, I misspoke, it's the screen that I formatted, not my PC, just the monitor.

        Hello,

Screen formatting: changing the screen resolution. Screen formatting doesn't exist.

No, but there is firmware: if an unsuitable one has been installed, why on earth touch it, it’s just a matter of trying to find and reload the original one that ensures the various "software" functions (menus, OSD...).

        Hello,

It's exactly a reset. When it asks me to confirm, it says it will reboot to default settings.

What do you want us to say...

A problem of this nature exists with GPS devices; if for one reason or another the firmware and system image have been affected, nothing will start up anymore.

This is usually not an issue with connectivity or power, but the fact that, just like with phone ROMs or PC processors, one tried to turn their pumpkin into a carriage based on dubious information passed around from forum to forum: in the best case, it will work neither better nor worse, as the hardware is optimized by its manufacturers, but most often we will be stuck.

It is necessary to find an entry point into the device that allows the appropriate software or programming language to be used, and of course, having the right files to reprogram, and if not, to go through customer service as long as it is cost-effective because these avenues are rarely found in the public domain.

I downloaded version 1.9, which was the last version from May 2024, it didn't work. While searching, I found version 1.6, technically older, but the same :(

Then I don't understand why there's a "reset to default" button on the screen menu and why it causes the monitor to trip; it's unthinkable to implement this kind of system...

Hello, the problem is fixed; it's the screen's power supply that I changed...
