Hello, I have a 65-inch 4K LG smart TV and I have an HDMI cable, but what is it for if I'm not using a Blu-ray player or a PS5?

Do I not need it with just the TV?

Hello

It can also be used to connect to the computer if you want, some people watch movies or use it as a screen even for a laptop as there are HDMI outputs.

If I don't have a computer, nor a PC, nor a Blu-ray player, is it useless?

Is it still in 4K definition without an HDMI cable?

So without an HDMI cable, can my screen still be in 4K UHD definition if I only use the TV?

Hello,

So without an HDMI cable, can my screen be in 4K UHD if I only use the TV?

Only the TV?

If you are referring to the HD TNT channels when you say "only the TV?", in that case the quality in terms of resolution on your panel will only be in HD.

The answer is no.

The main thing to remember is:

To have 4K on a 4K display, the source being viewed must also be in 4K.

The HD TNT channels are not broadcast in 4K, but in HD, so in principle, you will not have a 4K quality on your screen in terms of resolution.

As for the HDMI cable, as long as you have nothing to connect to your television, you can put it in a drawer.

Hello,

That's not entirely accurate.

The TNT offer in UHD is currently limited but exists, and if the TV is "Smart", it means it is or can be connected.

See the response I made.

Without a direct connection (HDMI) to a decoder, all broadcasts from Netflix, Canal+ or whatever will not be in 4K.

As long as they are and regardless of the reception via a decoder linked to a Box, satellite or digital terrestrial television (DTT), it is necessary, and this is the case here, that the TV offers the app for example Canal+ and of course that it has a network connection and that you are subscribed.

I have a smart TV, so I normally don't need a decoder, but I'm with SFR and I have one, so I use it if I want to watch in 4K.

It doesn't change anything other than your choice.

4K via ISP requires a compatible fiber box, a compatible 4K decoder that will necessarily be connected to the TV via HDMI, and it doesn't change the fact that only certain content from certain channels is broadcasted in 4K.
