Hello,
Preloading pages in Chrome to speed up navigation on websites has its advantages.
Unfortunately, even with the latest update Chrome stable 129 as of today, the option is grayed out.
Where is this option?
Open Chrome and click on the three dots in the top right.
Click on --► Settings
In the left menu click on --► Performance
At the bottom right, you'll find the option --► Speed
[or copy and paste chrome://settings/performance and hit enter in the URL bar]
The ''Speed'' option allows for 2 settings:
- Advanced Preloading
- Standard Preloading
Therefore, I cannot toggle to choose one of the 2 settings offered.
This is number 4 in the screenshot below:

I have the Beta version of Google Chrome 129 and the 2 possible settings are indeed present.
The option is highlighted in blue, so the icon is not grayed out.

So that's it for the comparisons.
Not having checked on several PCs in the neighborhood, I therefore ask the question among you who might be in the same situation.
I am not necessarily asking for solutions as I have tried various procedures like clearing Chrome's cache or testing in incognito mode.
And I haven't yet attempted the devil with a Chrome repair or with ResetBrowser, I absolutely need all my browsers to be functioning, including Chrome of course, as I have what you might call a sort of remote telework to do with my advisor regarding my disability, so hopefully my browsers and the upgrade of the update on W11, which starts next week (24h2), won't leave me stranded.
Your ideas would be welcome.

Good evening,
I encountered the same problem. I restored the default settings, everything worked fine for a while, then the problem returned.
I noticed that it was actually a Chrome extension that was conflicting. I removed it and haven't had any issues since.
Hello Bruno83200_6929,
A big thank you, no need to restore the settings of Google Chrome.
It’s your second solution that worked.
Namely, a browser extension.
It was the ublock origin chrome extension that was the culprit.
Simply because I didn’t see that it would no longer be supported.

And I have others, but they work well until the day a new Chrome update decides otherwise.
But it raises a new problem.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, and no miracle, the 'Speed' icon is grayed out again.
I should have suspected it because when I installed the beta version of Chrome.

I saw this tutorial to possibly reactivate it.
But what will happen later?
It’s a mystery.
There is more than one on CCM, I had started to talk about Manifest V2
where some extensions will not be able to be installed and will no longer work.
So here is a first post, and there will undoubtedly be others to follow.
Again a big thank you to you not only for the response but for its speed.
Have a great day.
