Hello,

I recently got a Denon M41DAB system.

I would like to add a VULKKANO SUB8 Auxiliary 8-Inch Subwoofer (Amazon; good value for money).

I assume this subwoofer comes with an "RCA to coaxial" cable. Indeed, the RCA inputs (2) on my system are already occupied by a turntable. But I have a "subwoofer out" connection left. See photo. I also assume the subwoofer comes with RCA for... the subwoofer and coaxial for the Denon amplifier?

    Hello,

Your photo is not readable, we can't see what is written on the back of this amp.

    - You say: "are already occupied for a turntable" these sockets are Inputs, so "Analog in" you need to make a clear distinction between Inputs and Outputs.

-- There is only "SubWoofer out" with RCA to connect your Subwoofer... Without seeing the wiring that connects the two, it's very difficult to make a statement... But generally, it's not that hard to plug a connector onto a cable..!!

First of all, thank you for your quick response.

In the meantime, I learned that in the subwoofer package there is only the power cable. So, I don't know what connection cable to buy.

From what I understand (or have seen), there is for example a "male to male RCA cable for subwoofer." In that case, I don't need the cable with the "red-white" on one side and the "single" on the other...

Here’s a link, if you have time: https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B01D5H8GYG/ref=vp_d_pb_TIER4_pbxcovv3_lp_B078JPMKKL_pd?_encoding=UTF8&pf_rd_p=32df900e-ceab-44ed-86a3-0403a51b8c81&pf_rd_r=AYDJXHAXHWW9RDMVVK0Q&pd_rd_wg=myooa&pd_rd_i=B01D5H8GYG&pd_rd_w=WInAB&content-id=amzn1.sym.32df900e-ceab-44ed-86a3-0403a51b8c81&pd_rd_r=686a5a36-3ef4-4207-af7c-aed7956e9c30&psc=1

I’m sending back a photo where you should be able to see better.

    Thank you

Yes, I went on that link earlier.

So, some say that there is only the power cable, and on the link it says that the box contains: "3.5 mm stereo to RCA cable."

I don't know what to say either, except that I can buy the subwoofer and, depending on the contents and the operation, I can buy the appropriate cable.

Earlier, you mentioned that we shouldn't confuse in and out. However, on my Denon, it says out. So, if the subwoofer comes with a red-white RCA cable on one side and a "single" (I don't remember what they're called...), I would need to connect the red-white to the subwoofer and the other to my Denon in "subwoofer out."

I understand that it may not be very clear...

Maybe you can clarify this for me: I previously thought that RCA referred to the red-white pair; however, you referred to RCA as a single plug (?)

    Thank you for your patience.

RCA is a brand "Radio Corporation of America. It uses "Cinch" connectors, generally coaxial, hence electrical signal protection via "Shielding," which is the surrounding metal braid that is usually connected to ground.

This shielded cable transmits only one signal at a time... for example, for stereo, two are needed, one for the right sound and the other for the left sound... For a subwoofer, this is not necessary because the low frequencies are not high enough for us to perceive the difference. Hence, a single coax for the subwoofer.

Perfect answer! Thank you very much.

However, it's the images (videos or not) that are confusing because, for example, on the link https://www.amazon.fr/VULKKANO-Caisson-Fr%C3%A9quence-40Hz-250Hz-Subwoofer/dp/B09XHMJN4F/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=ZwW5z&content-id=amzn1.sym.69ddbdfa-6f86-49d2-a878-e83873af1828%3Aamzn1.symc.fc11ad14-99c1-406b-aa77-051d0ba1aade&pf_rd_p=69ddbdfa-6f86-49d2-a878-e83873af1828&pf_rd_r=RQZ3G8H9W7XAX41AZJY5&pd_rd_wg=c4muk&pd_rd_r=01c51290-0897-424b-8903-326ad94e0332&ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_ca_hp_atf_d

if you look at the back panel, there's an "aux out", but behind my Denon, there's a "subwoofer out"; isn't that too many "outs"?

If it's delivered with a "red-white" cable AND "a simple one" on the other end, can I connect the latter to the Denon and the "red-white" to the subwoofer?

If it's delivered with a "simple" on each end, I suppose I can connect one of them to the Denon, and the other either to "aux out" or to the L/LFE?

Sure, you say very well: "hence a single coax for the Subwoofer", but where do you connect the end that doesn't go to the Denon?

It must still be pointed out that this is the first time I want to connect a subwoofer...

But what patience! Thank you very much

    Hello,

For me, you need to connect the Subwoofer out of the DENON to the L/LFE input of the subwoofer with a coax RCA/RCA cable (the same type as in message #3).

LFE stands for Low Frequency Effects.

    Hello,

    Thanks to baladur13.

All of this confirms (and I needed it) what I had been able to synthesize. It had been confirmed in another way in message 5.

    I better understood the L/LFE.

But before receiving the subwoofer: if it is delivered with a "single RCA" for the out and on the other end a red and a white, do I plug both into the subwoofer?

    Thanks a lot to everyone.

According to Vulkkano, it comes with a 3.5mm stereo Jack to RCA cable.

      Excerpt from https://vulkkano.com/fr/products/vulkkano-sub8

This cable is made for connecting to a headphone-type audio output. The Denon amplifier has, according to its manual, a front-facing output of this type marked "Phones," but it cuts off the speakers when used. Therefore, it can only be used with a phone or another device with a 3.5mm jack audio output.

The coaxial cable alone should be used.

      Affirmative...

However, consider the length of the coaxial cable depending on the location of the subwoofer and the DENON amplifier.

The link from the previous message shows a 5-meter cable.

    Hello,

Is it too late for the subject? Holidays etc.?

One piece of information and one question please.

    1) Information: I received my subwoofer. Very good. But the contents are very random (I don't even know what, actually) according to the deliveries... I received an RCA to RCA cable (see photo) and not an audio output stereo cable like a jack; a power supply and the user manual.

I could have avoided buying the 5m cable mentioned above, but maybe the quality is worth it.

    2)

Question: should I turn off (standby) the subwoofer if not in use? Every night for example?

    Thank you in advance

5m for the RCA/RCA cable seemed a bit long to me (see my warning in message #12... but only you know where this Subwoofer will be placed in relation to the amplifier. However, the 5m is indeed of better quality than the one included.

Clearly, the information about the cable included with the subwoofer is incorrect, and besides, we don't really see what a cable with a 3.5mm jack would do with this device.

"Should the subwoofer be turned off (in standby) when not in use?"

There is no standby on this device, only a power switch on/off.

However, it is advisable to cut off the electrical supply when not in use, if only to reduce your electricity bill.

Thank you for this quick response.

Yes, I misread on Amazon... I could have chosen a shorter one. But it's my fault.

I was wondering the same thing about the jack...?

Regarding the off or standby mode, yesterday, while testing, I saw a diode turn red or blue. So there is a standby mode; otherwise, you have to unplug it... See the photo.

    Indeed, random deliveries...

And if it could help others.

    Thanks

Ok... I came across a manual where there was only a mechanical switch... and an electric cable to connect directly to a power outlet... here we are more modern, with a push button On/Off and DC power from an external power supply.

We can, like any device, leave it in standby... but that doesn’t go in the direction of saving.

So, delivery is a bit hit or miss; we don't know exactly which accessories we will receive.

But aside from the economic aspect, is there any technical drawback to leaving it on (blue) or in standby (red, they got it wrong; the drawing is correct but the text is wrong)? Otherwise, the only option left is unplugging it from the outlet...

Leaving a device on standby has no technical drawbacks.

As Fernand Reynaud would have said: It's designed for that.

Due to all the devices I have on standby at home, my question was a bit naive, but it's the first time I have a subwoofer...

Thank you for everything baladur 13

    Hello,

I purchased the Vulkkano Arc A4 set and the Subwoofer Sub8. We encountered the same cable issue and bought the one recommended on Amazon as well.

Unfortunately, our sub is still not working and is not producing any sound, even though it is turned on..

Could it be a compatibility issue between the two systems?
    What do you think?

    Hello Emma,

how did you connect your amp to the subwoofer?

    Here is the diagram

The subwoofer should be connected with an audio cable like the one in the photo in message #14 (RCA audio cable) to the white RCA jack on the subwoofer marked L/LFE and to the amp on the yellow RCA jack marked SUB OUT.
