Incompatible cartridge that does not work

Hello,

I've had an HP C4680 printer for a long time. For the first time, I wanted to try compatible ink cartridges for black... There's a small issue, no black ink comes out when printing. I read that I needed to disable the cartridge protection but I couldn't manage it. From HP Smart, I can't access the advanced settings, from the printer settings there's no tab for the cartridges, and from the printer itself, I haven't found anything.

If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears!

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello,

So you bought compatible cartridges from a store or online..? and placed them in your printer... or did you refill the old ones..?

-- Has the printer been without a cartridge, or with an empty cartridge, for some time..?

-- There is no protection... the new cartridges are equipped with corresponding chips to function... if they are the right ones... They are recognized when the printer is powered on (via the wall outlet.)

Please answer these questions first, before thinking about other things.

Hello,

I bought the compatible cartridge online and installed it in my printer.

The printer was not left without a cartridge or with an empty cartridge.

The cartridge had a protective cover and was packaged like all other cartridges. There are indeed more chips on the compatible cartridge than on the original cartridge.

The printer recognizes the compatible cartridge as an HP cartridge when I insert it. On my computer, it also shows up as an HP.

But when I want to align the cartridges or print, I do not have any black ink on the page. When I put the old original HP cartridge back in (which was not completely empty), it does print black ink on my page.

Would you happen to have a piece of Scotch tape that might have been left (forgotten) on the exit hole of the ink, or another one above that lets the suction air pass through..?

-- Indeed, the screen printing and the position of the contact pins are different and I find it hard to believe that the pins are making contact as they did originally...(???)

The quality of the photo does not allow for reading what is written on the circuit.. and too much shadow.

-- This cartridge may not be the exact generic model for this printer, check the references under a magnifying glass.. That's what I believe.

Alas, no tape left behind...

I think that indeed, the issue comes from the circuit. It says: "don't remove this chip". The cartridge is not that compatible after all!

In any case, thank you for responding to me.
