Hello

I would like to automatically know the name of the place, and have it displayed above the photo I just took with my Samsung S23 phone.

I have enabled location in the settings but it is not displaying.

Thank you very much

Hello,

I don't think it can be done automatically; activating the corresponding metadata only makes it accessible manually in the photo details or through third-party software.

Some applications boast about achieving this automatic display, for instance here, I haven't tested it.

Hello,

You are asking for something that is probably impossible.

By activating "Location" in the settings, you have only requested the recording of the longitude and latitude of the place in the photo's "tags".

For the location to be displayed at the same time as the photo, the camera must add a watermark. This is what the app mentioned by brucine offers.

This photo app therefore replaces Samsung's, which can only watermark the date and time.
The photo must be geotagged in real-time (which can slow it down) and the shooting location must be clearly identified, which is often not the case.
Moreover, this watermark, being integrated into the photo, cannot be easily removed.

I think it is better for you to settle for the information about the photo available in the Gallery.

Note that the information in the Gallery is inaccurate. They use locations known to Google.
This issue was discussed a few months ago on this forum. If you want to access the location tags, you will need to use software other than the Gallery.
I had mentioned the Fx file manager (available on the Play Store).

If you really want the shooting location to be displayed at the same time as the photo, you will need to edit the photo and add the name of the place in a caption. Many software options can do this, including the Gallery.

What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.
