Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you today because unfortunately, I can't get my new PC to work. It POSTs: all the fans turn on, the LEDs too, the CPU pump and the RAM light up, etc., but the PC doesn't boot, the screen stays black, and the power button on the case keeps flashing continuously.

Here are my components:

CPU: i5-13600k
Motherboard: Asus Prime B760-Plus
SSD: Kingston A400 (240GB) (no OS installed for now)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2x16 GB)
Power Supply: MSI MAG A750GL (750W)
Graphics Card: Asus Phoenix GTX 1050Ti 4 GB (which I haven't installed yet to exclude it from troubleshooting)

I also have a more detailed list of the components here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f4ZvxH
All components are new except for the CPU water cooler (Corsair H100 RGB), which was delivered without pre-applied thermal paste, so I applied my own.

After doing a lot of research, here are the things I can rule out:

Processor: I suspected that the processor was faulty, so I had it replaced with a new one, but that didn't change anything.

Power Supply: I suspected it might be a power supply issue as well, but I bought a new one and the problem persists.

RAM: I tried to reposition the RAM sticks properly and make sure they clicked in, I also tried to boot with just one stick following the motherboard manual instructions, but that didn't change anything.

BIOS: Some people online suggest that the BIOS of my motherboard is not compatible with my 13th generation processor and that it needs to be updated. However, I checked on the official Asus website and that doesn't seem to be the case since all BIOS versions for this motherboard are supposed to support 13th generation processors.

Having tried everything, I'm reaching out for your help as I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, so for me, even though you have already tried it, it definitely looks like a faulty RAM, or there’s an issue with the RAM slots on the motherboard. Do you also have a speaker connected to your motherboard that beeps error codes at startup?

Hello Mmegamax08,

Thank you for your response! Indeed, you were right, it was a defective RAM issue. One of the sticks did not work in any slot while the other one works in all of them; I hadn’t tried each stick separately and didn’t realize it.

I wouldn’t have thought it possible for that to happen with new and freshly purchased RAM, but that was indeed the problem. I replaced both sticks and everything works perfectly.

Thanks to you for your help!

No problem, sometimes RAM can be misleading, no lights, no LED, you just have to think about it, but yes it's not new that even new RAM can just be poorly designed and mess everything up... Anyway, glad your issue is resolved!
