VMware Workstation Player and PC Graphics Card
GG -
Hello,
Apparently, VMware Workstation Player does not recognize the PC's graphics card.
Installing the AMD driver on the virtual disk (Windows 11) is not possible; and the driver installer does not detect any AMD graphics card.
I have, of course, installed VMware Tools.
I also have another question:
Is it possible to find a solution to gain unrestricted access to all the partitions of the HDD?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Hello,
to the first question, the answer is no, as you have observed yourself; VMWare Tools manages a virtual graphics card to a somewhat acceptable degree, but never the physical graphics card of the host.
Regarding network exploration, the Shared Folders shortcut depends on the client operating system (for example, a workaround is required to set it up on Linux); it is nothing more than a variation of the SUBST function which assigns the letter drive Z: to the chosen shared folder, but to make matters worse, it is unique for each client, as well as for all different clients in a virtual machine.
To summarize, there is no other solution than of course to share the target partitions on the host machine; on the client machine, you can access it either by
\\computer\nompartition in the explorer, or by the same thing that you create a shortcut to, leaving it up to everyone to save the password or not (at simplest, the credentials of the host machine).
The consequence even in the second situation is the clutter on the desktop, which can be remedied either by creating a dedicated folder containing all the relevant shortcuts, or by placing them according to the client operating system in a customized toolbar.
In the first case (it’s in the other direction, 11 to 10 but it doesn’t change the question), I have a shortcut on the desktop to a folder that contains shortcuts to each share:

Hello "brucine",
Thank you for your clear and detailed response.
Regarding the second part, I tried to follow your instructions, but I cannot access the partitions. The only disk I can access is the virtual disk.
I can also access the external disk that is connected to the PC (USB).
To help me better understand your instructions, let’s take the example below:
Partition name and letter: E:Monday
When I open the explorer, what should I type?
Thank you in advance.

Good evening,
Your drive or folder needs to be shared on the host PC as if you were trying to access it via a non-virtual network share from another PC.
Right-click, properties, advanced sharing or not (file and printer sharing must obviously be enabled in the current profile of Windows settings if the host is Windows).
As long as the sharing is done at the root of the logical partition, Windows is lenient and automatically proposes the name, in this case
\\BRUCINE11\Data (computer name and partition name).
If I only want to share a subfolder of Data, it's this folder called toto that I share \\BRUCINE11\Data\toto.
In my virtual machine, I right-click on the desktop, new shortcut, the target is \\BRUCINE11\Data, the name whatever I want, I place it wherever I want, on the desktop, in a dedicated folder, in the taskbar (except for Windows 11 where I would need to customize one via Explorer Patcher).
Note that the green arrow only indicates the sharing of the root of the partition (for example, the C: desktop is also shared).
Hello "brucine",
I have tried the given instructions, so far without success. Being quite a beginner, I need to try everything again more carefully and with more patience.
Thank you once again.
Best regards,
Hello,
But is it the creation of the shortcut that causes the problem or the sharing (access denied), what operating systems are used for the host and the client?
Hello,
The physical system and the virtual system, both are Windows 11.
The activation of the partition sharing action was successful.
Creating a shortcut in VMware Player seems to have succeeded halfway.
Before finishing the shortcut creation procedure, Windows (virtual) asks me for the name and password.
I haven't set any password to access the PC. For the virtual machine, I had set a password.
When I enter the username chosen for the virtual machine and its password, the password is rejected. (Maybe I forgot the correct password.)
And when I type my chosen username for the PC, even though I haven't set any password for the PC, I'm still asked for a password.
Thank you once again.
Best regards,
