Hello, I have a serious problem with my Philips TAEP200 DVD player. I just bought it. When I want to watch a video with my external hard drive or a USB stick, it doesn't play the entire video. For a file under 1 hour, no problem. For a file from 1 to 1.5 hours, it stops about 9 minutes before the end. When I play a file of 2 hours or more, it stops exactly at 1 hour and 6 minutes!!! It's more than annoying. Before, I had a DVD player that I dropped while cleaning (so much for cleaning!!!). Of course, it no longer works and it's a shame because it worked perfectly; with the new one, it's a nightmare!!! Who can help me, assuming I explained myself well!!! Thank you very much.

    Hello!

It could be an unsupported video codec problem with your Philips DVD player, or an issue with the file format. I recommend checking the format of your video files: your player can only read supported formats, so if your files are in MKV for example, it's possible that your player can't play them fully.

On the other hand, if your videos are in 1080p or 4K, your player might struggle to play them all the way through because it overheats. In that case, you might want to try reducing the resolution of your videos.

Finally, it could also be that the external hard drive or USB stick you are using is faulty. Try using another USB stick or another hard drive to see if the problem persists. If the problem persists, it’s likely that your player is defective. In that case, I recommend returning it to the store where you bought it for an exchange or refund.

    Hello
"For a file of less than 1 hour, no problem. For a file of 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, it stops about 9 minutes before the end. When I play a file of 2 hours or more, it stops at exactly 1 hour and 6 minutes!!!".

In my eyes, it's clearly the player that's having a problem, nothing else. This is confirmed by reading the buyer comments, which are mostly negative.
The brand often makes good equipment, but their issue is that they do not or rarely follow up on the drivers.
Check if there are any firmware driver updates available for the player. If so, you can try that, and it might resolve the issue.
If not, it's a return to the seller because it's clearly an unacceptable limitation.
