Windows installation: MSI KATANA B12VGK--226XFR (système d'exploitation gratuit)

Good evening everyone,

I received today the Msi - Katana 17 B12VGK-226XFR (Free OS). I am unable to proceed with the Windows 11 installation.

I have tried several techniques because the SSD is not showing up; one technique worked halfway, I downloaded a Rapid Storage Technology update.

In the BIOS/BOOT/FIXED BOOT ORDER PRIORITIES, I could see the name of the SSD since I manipulated it via the Windows installer, trying to format the hard drive because an error message told me "the hard disk must be formatted to FAT32." I did that thinking the problem would be solved, but not at all.

Since the BIOS/BOOT/FIXED BOOT ORDER PRIORITIES, I no longer see this SSD; it just says BOOT option #2 Hard Disk (except in MAIN/STORAGE INFORMATION where it is properly listed, and then via the Windows installer, I cannot see it (even before the formatting manipulation).

Initially, the PC booted to the OS search screen, but since I fiddled around to fix this issue, it no longer boots there but goes directly to the BIOS.

What can I do?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Alex

Hello,

To explain clearly, you are incomprehensible.

In the normal state of the fighters, the installation key is formatted GPT and the disk is also NTFS/GPT, certainly not FAT32, and the BIOS is in UEFI mode with TPM enabled.

The problem with these PCs without an OS (or Free DOS) when the SSD is not recognized by Windows is hell because it indeed requires a driver, typically Intel Rapid Storage, but it's the snake biting its own tail, it must be installed before Windows.

Therefore, these drivers must be downloaded onto a USB key from another PC (since this one, by definition, does not work) and this key inserted at the "Load driver" step during Windows installation (usually at the bottom left of the window), see here in 1.5

Hello,

Thank you for your help! I went to the webpage you sent me and also to the Intel site to download the drivers, but they are no longer in .zip format, only in .exe (see link below). So, it's impossible to execute during the Windows installation.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19512/intel-rapid-storage-technology-driver-installation-software-with-intel-optane-memory-10th-and-11th-gen-platforms.html

Do you have another solution?

On my side, I will try to figure out how to resolve this issue.

Hello,

In my case, it's a driver available on the HP site indeed in exe format but which actually extracts the installation files into a dedicated folder without installing them directly.

If that's also the case, we're back to square one, we'll need to find another PC to run this executable and see what happens: if it results in extracted files like inf and others, those are the ones we need to copy onto a USB stick.

Good evening, we had the same issue with a brand new little gem from MSI, a Katana B12VGF, and we simply had to go to the MSI website to grab the right Intel drivers. I hope this helps!
