Data recovery from an SSD with adapter

Hello everyone,

I have a big problem, I hope someone can help me. I'm "losing it".

I had a laptop: MSI 32GB RAM 512GB SSD ...

It's dead (accident). I retrieved the SSD NVME 512GB hard drive to recover my data (mega important, I can't even tell you ...)

I bought a new MSI Stealth laptop (about the same: 16GB DDR6, 1TB disk ...)

Then I bought an NVME -> USB adapter for the old hard drive on the new PC (20 euros, it gets very hot during operation). It works. The computer recognizes the drive via USB and shows me the 5 drives.

Problems:

this old hard drive was protected by this Bitlocker encryption.

(I have the keys, I use them to unlock a drive).

My data on the drives is very large (for example: a 100GB 7zip backup file, a 150GB work folder)

-> I can't perform the following operations because everything is extremely slow and at some point, Windows "cuts off" the connection to the adapter and tells me "it's no longer recognized".

Here are the operations:

- I click on a drive from the SSD on the USB adapter, Bitlocker asks me for the key: I provide it: I wait several minutes (!) before it's unlocked.

- I enter the USB drive: several minutes before seeing the contents display.

- I try to drag a file or folder to the new PC's disk to recover it: it freezes and loads, when it finally finishes loading, the folder is no longer on the "drag" of the mouse.

- I then try differently: I right-click "copy" a folder (several minutes of loading before I get the menu to choose to copy).

- I try to paste: it loads ...

I'm not succeeding: at some point or another, the PC says: the USB device is no longer recognized ... And it loads at each step for a long time ...

My questions:

1) Is this normal? Is it because the adapter isn't capable of reading so much data? (10GB/s normally).

2) Is it normal that I have to redo the Bitlocker unlocking every time I restart the laptop?

3) Could it be that the computer is the one causing the problem (it's new, it seems to work fine for everything else).

4) Are there other adapters that can handle files of 150GB or folders?

I'm sorry for all this explanatory nonsense, I really hope you can help me/advice me as soon as possible.
