Recovering data from a hard drive - Which adapter to buy?

My Dell Precision M90 computer is not working anymore, it hasn't started for 3 days!

I want to recover the data (files, emails, etc.) that I didn't have time to back up on an external hard drive.
Is it possible to remove the internal hard drive to transfer my data to a new computer?
Please let me know which adapter or enclosure for the 80 GB 5400 rpm Fujitsu MHV2080BH hard drive I should buy?
Do I also need to buy cables, etc.?
What precautions should I take to avoid losing my data?

You just need to connect your hard drive to the SATA port and the USB port on your PC. It will show up as a device.
    BINGO! You can recover your files ;)

    If you can get a desktop PC, you can connect it to the motherboard
    you need to have a >>> SATA cable <<< available
    and a free SATA connector from the power supply

    I'm anticipating a bit just to add to the advice from @xayrail and @vieu bison boiteu :)

    Sometimes, you might encounter situations where the OS asks to format an old hard drive carrying an OS that is connected externally. If this happens, don't hesitate to decline the request, otherwise the contents will be deleted.

    Your initial message lets us know that the old laptop was no longer functioning… was it a malfunction of the hard drive? Anyway, I'll warn you that the old hard drive, whether connected externally or internally to another PC, can be a bit stubborn, but do not panic! ;) If that happens, especially do not format the hard drive and do not initialize it. Testing data recovery software or using a Linux Live CD to access the contents would be a viable approach.
