Automatic space after an apostrophe

Good evening,

I'm sending you this message because recently, I got a Samsung Galaxy S23+ with GBoard. Every time I insert an apostrophe (like "j' " or "c' "), it automatically adds a space, which means "j'ai" becomes "j' ai", and I have to remove the space manually, which is a waste of time...

Could you please help me?

Thank you!

    Hello

It may be possible that there is an automatic spell check. See if you can disable it. See if you can add occurrences without space to a personal dictionary. See if you can correct the original dictionary.

Otherwise, you can tell the Petit Robert that it's a widely used variant and ask him to include it in his next edition to avoid having to correct it anymore.

      Hello,

Nonsense: just because a misuse or a mistake is widespread, it doesn't mean it's acceptable: there is never a space after a hyphen or an apostrophe.

By that logic, we should also ask the Petit Robert to include some horrors just because we see them every day, like "sa met égal".

        Hello,

It was probably meant to be humorous.

But the rest of the post didn’t move the needle one bit!

    Good evening,

Try using the Samsung keyboard. If you still have a space, it will show that the problem is not related to the keyboard, but rather to the phone's configuration.

What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.
