My headphones are crackling and/or not producing sound (not on computer)

Hello, I have a problem with my headphones; as soon as I plug them into my phone, they start to crackle, even when I'm listening to music. However, if there's a very faint sound (like a whistle) in a song, then I can't hear anything at all.

I tried plugging them into other devices and that didn't happen, and then I tried other headphones but the problem came back.

Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

Since your headphones work on other devices, it's the phone that has an issue. Clean the headphone jack (if it is indeed a headphone jack) with a toothpick, but be careful not to push the grime deeper inside.

If it still doesn't work, we should check the age of our phone; it's possible that a loose connection or some rust is present.

    Hello

There is an electronic circuit somewhere in the phone; if the signal exceeds a certain level or in the absence of a signal, an audible interference occurs at the output.

    A cold solder joint.
