Instagram "Sorry, an error occurred"

Solved/Closed

Hello,

I am writing this post because I am experiencing a problem with my Instagram account. Indeed, this morning I tried to log in to my account, and an error page appeared saying "Sorry, an error has occurred. Please try closing and reopening your browser window." I obviously tried to follow this advice but, of course, to no avail. While looking for similar posts mentioning this issue, I read that we should check if our browser is up to date. I use Google Chrome and it is indeed up to date. I am reaching out to you in the hope that you can provide me with answers that will allow me to resolve the issue. I really don't understand where this could be coming from; I logged out of my account last night as usual without making any other changes. I also thought that my Instagram account might have been disabled or hacked, but I don't think that's the case. Perhaps if I try again later in the day, this page will have disappeared and I will be able to log in without any problems?

Thank you in advance for your help, which will be greatly appreciated!

    Hello.

It's probably an internal issue with Instagram; we need to wait for it to be resolved.

Hello, my friend and I have exactly the same problem as you since this morning as well, so I wonder if there might be a bug with Instagram for everyone using it on PC.

      Hello,

I've also tried on Opera (GX), Google, and Microsoft Edge but it doesn't work :/ . If any of you have a solution, I’m interested since I don't have a phone.

      Thanks in advance.

Hello, indeed I have the same problem with my browser and also trying to use the app on the Microsoft Store, but it reassures me that I am not the only one.

      Good evening,

I am also in the same situation as you. If someone knows how to do it, it would be very kind of you to let me know, please.

      Best regards.

The only response received is that we must wait, but it's been 3 days already and the problem is still not resolved, and knowing that some people use Instagram for work, it strongly inconveniences them, but oh well.

***** Removed by moderation ***** I found the solution, so no, you shouldn't wait; it's Instagram that is bugging, and not just a little, since it's with Android. So that's the source of this problem (Android).

Here’s what you need to do, and it’s really very simple: Log into the iPhone app, then close it and log into Safari. Then click the button that says go to the app once connected to Safari, and wait a few seconds. It worked for me and I'm on Android. I just needed an iPhone for that.

Thanks to REDDIT and to the person who shared this answer. So yes, you need an iPhone and Safari, which is Apple’s browser, but ask a friend or a family member; it literally takes 5 tiny minutes, but really, I was shocked at how stupid it was.

Unfortunately, Instagram is not made for Android, ***** removed by moderation ***** That's it!! YOU'RE WELCOME !!!!!

***** No need to be insulting towards the people who help on the forum, this post dates back to August 1, 2023, and at that time there was no solution, hence the responses given back then. Just because in November, three months later, you offer a solution for the first time on CCM, it doesn't give you the right to write the insulting comments that I had to remove.*****

Hello, could you please contact me and send me a video capture of the process?

I tried, but I must have missed something and my bug is from two months ago, just like yours. Thank you very much.

    Hello

Is it the same with another browser or is it only on Chrome?

    ;)

      Hello,

Indeed, it's the same for all the browsers I have (Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and of course Chrome). I installed the Instagram app via the Microsoft Store thinking it would work since I wouldn't have to go through a browser anymore, but the same message appears when I open the app.

Oh, I'm not the only one with this issue ^^! Have you been experiencing this problem since this morning as well, or has it been going on for several days? In any case, I hope we can find a solution!

I thought the same thing, it seems that Instagram no longer works only on PC, which is a problem for me since I also don't have a phone :/ Let's hope it's just a temporary bug!

Well, listen, I don't know what's going on, but it's happening to me too the "

    Sorry, an error has occurred.

Please try closing and then reopening your browser window." My friend is experiencing it too, so I really don't know

Yeah, and when we ask, we're redirected to other people's problems without anything being said, just by sending the link, especially since if it were an internal issue, it would probably be fixed, but I don't know enough about it.

except that if it's on a computer and an error page appears, no one can report it.

    Hello
I just looked at the source code of the blank page that says "Sorry,...".

It's very strange because if you go to your own Instagram account (in the address bar, type the address that's supposed to lead to your account), you'll get this blank page and the error message. If you check the source code, you'll see that it's the source code of your Instagram page but... at the very end, there’s "<h1>Sorry, an error occurred.</h1><p>Try closing and then reopening your browser window.</p>"

As if someone added this line of HTML code which, oddly enough, obscured everything else. Who, how, why does this line appear?! That is the question.

Right now, I'm at a loss... It doesn't seem like a virus or a contaminated address. It's just that when you type the Instagram address, it retrieves a page with this extra line. Where does it come from? A mystery. I doubt it's from Instagram (or FB or Meta or whatever)...

If someone wants to take over to investigate further. I can’t find any info on the web. It's really strange. For me, it's just a simple but bizarre redirect.

Have a nice end of the day.

the same issue, and of course it's impossible to reach Instagram support... I noticed this problem when I logged in 10 minutes ago

I also have an issue with notes, I can no longer share music on the mobile app, and I can't listen to the ones that others have shared in notes either

Hello, I'm in the same situation but much later. Can someone tell me if this is happening to them too or if I've been banned or something... No Instagram service works on my phone or PC while I'm logged into my girlfriend's account and hers works just fine? Why?

It must be an internal problem because I'm having the same issue and this message keeps appearing for three weeks... I can't connect either on the app or on the browser... Let me know if it's resolved because I'm worried!!!
