Hello.

I installed VirtualBox 7.0 on W11.

I installed Windows XP to use a software that does not work on W10 and 11. (DESIGNER by Micrograph).

Everything went well - everything is working.

EXCEPT:

That when I save a *.drw file (from Designer), I can't find it when I close VirtualBox!

Who knows how to find the files saved under XP in VirtualBox?

Moreover, I created a small partition on my root drive C: to specifically save my work under Designer.

I can't get VirtualBox to recognize this small dedicated partition.

What should I do?

Thank you for your attention.

    Hello,

I'm not using Virtual Box but VMWare Workstation, I suppose the principle is the same.

The files are saved on the client machine, thus inaccessible when it is shut down since they are part of its image (unless you mount this vmdk image as an ISO).

The virtual machine recognizes a "remote" partition on the network (the C: drive of the host PC) but does not allow access to it unless this partition is shared or I specify in the VMWare menu a shared folder, which this time works independently of sharing permissions.

In my case, the host's desktop is mapped in VMWare as virtual drive Z:, allowing me to copy files to it.

In the other direction (host to client), of course there is no previous possibility; the network will allow me to explore the client provided the target folder is shared and, of course, that the virtual machine is connected.

      Hello.

      Thank you for your comments.

Indeed > you cannot access it once VirtualBox is closed.

I will take care of it.

      Thank you
