Functionality Level Issue with DirectX 12
Isaac -
Hello,
I have a small Feature Level problem that should be at 12 but is only at 11;
My config:
HP Z400 Workstation
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 0B4Ch
Processor: Intel Xeon W3550
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro K2200 (GM107GL)
GPU Driver: April 2023, taken from the Nvidia website
DirectX 12 (in place before changing the graphics card)
Feature level: 11_0
I originally had a Quadro 2000, which I recently replaced with a Quadro K2200, compatible with DirectX 12. I installed the Nvidia driver from April 2023.
Dxdiag and the Nvidia utility indicate (as do some programs) that I am only at feature level 11 and not 12.
Is it a CPU compatibility issue?
Thank you very much.

Hello,
Have you resolved your issue? I have the same one with a K4000 supposedly DirectX 12, stuck at a DirectX 11 feature level...
Hello. I bought a used HP Z4 G4 workstation. At first, it was offered with the same graphics card I had on my Z400 (with a different processor and DDR4), and I had the same issue: Photoshop indicated that the card was not compatible with DirectX 12. So, the seller replaced it with a Nvidia GTX 960, and then everything was running smoothly. Plus, the Photoshop filter (with AI) that took a minute with the K2200 now takes only 30 seconds with the GTX 960.
So I think the K series is too old and will never support DirectX 12.
Thank you for your response. You confirm my intuition. However, I am surprised that the K4000 is specified as DirectX 12 by Nvidia. I have not checked for the other cards in the K series. But regarding DirectX 12, Nvidia only mentions an incompatibility with Fermi CPUs. However, the K4000 is based on a Kepler CPU...
Yes, it is apparently different when considering simple software compatibility or the level of hardware functionality. In any case, the K4000 seems to be hardware compatible with DirectX 12, but it's impossible to get it running in DirectX 12 with the Nvidia drivers. I think I will go for your GTX 960 solution. Too bad, now I have 3 K4000 on my hands.
Thank you for your advice.
Hello. No, it's not for gaming but for photo editing.
Someone who had this graphics card (but with a different processor and motherboard) had the Functionality Level displayed at 12.
So it's my processor that's the issue?
Thank you.
Software configuration issue, which I would prioritize first.
Check the English-speaking forums of the program, if it still doesn't work.
It is independent of the editing software, since dxdiag and the Nvidia utility indicate level 11.
