Facebook two-factor authentication and phone number change

Hello,

I recently changed my phone number after enabling two-factor authentication on Facebook. The problem is that now, I no longer have access to that number which is essential for logging in.

Do you know a way to prove my identity without using that old number?

I can:

  • Provide my identification documents (but I don't know where)
  • Call someone and provide information specific to my Facebook account usage

I cannot:

  • Log in with my Google account. For some reason, the login doesn't work. After validating my Google account, I am redirected to the Facebook login page.
  • Use another device to log in (I was only logged in at one place).
  • Use recovery codes (I don't have any).

I have a business for which I spend €20 a day on Facebook, and I can no longer modify my campaigns or access my invoices to do my accounting.

Has anyone managed to get out of this situation before?

Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Hello

I have the exact same problem since March 22nd and nothing works, I can't take it anymore. I've sent my ID card several times, received the message "thank you for sending" and it's still the same with that famous authentication code that I don't receive. If anyone has a solution, I would be more than grateful.

Hello,

Thank you for your response, however, as I explained earlier, I have already tried these solutions.

To clarify:

  • Text message codes can sometimes take time to arrive. Check your phone again in a while.
The number is no longer accessible as explained
  • If you are logged in on another browser or device, check your notifications. You may be able to approve this connection from there.
I am not logged into any other browser
  • If you have already saved or printed recovery codes, you can use them to approve this connection.
I do not have any of those codes

Two-factor authentication does not protect, on the contrary, I am literally blocked because of it.

If you have a real solution, a way to contact Facebook by proving my identity, I am open to that answer.
I can't be the only one, this is absurd.

Have a nice day

There was a sentence earlier on Facebook that said he refused to engage if you had enabled two-factor authentication and could not log in because only you could access the recovery codes provided at the time of two-factor authentication (to be kept separate)...

I see that this sentence has been replaced by the last paragraph:

If you are unable to log in after following these tips, you must confirm your identity in order to proceed.

  1. Try to log in and continue until you need to enter your two-factor authentication code.
  2. Click on You need another authentication method?
  3. Click on Other options, then Get more help.
  4. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

But if nothing works, you’ll have to assume it’s over... sorry.

The conclusion is that it is good to always have recovery codes at home.
