Unable to remove highlighting in libre office writer

Hello,

I received a document created in LibreOffice Writer. I opened it and saved it as a Word document.

I made changes to this document. I highlighted the changes (in yellow).

I returned this document to the concerned person. When she wanted to remove the highlighting, she was unable to do so.

Therefore, I saved this document (.docs) with highlighted words in .odt format.

This process means that neither I nor my interlocutor can open it, let alone remove the highlighting.

I tried converting my document to a Word document (.docx), and it no longer opens.

I tried reconverting this .docx document back to .odt, and it still does not open.

I don't know how to retrieve my .docx document and be able to open it and remove the highlighting.

Additionally, several folders saved in .doc (older) also do not open anymore.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

    Hello,

    What had to happen happened.

    LibreOffice is not a clone of MS Office.
    Compatibility has its limits. Some features are supported, others partially, and some not at all.

    It is essential to:
    - open the document with LibreOffice and save it immediately in ODF format;
    - work in the native format (ODF);
    - save the changes;
    - only after that, save as MS Office format (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx).

    The same goes for the reverse.

    Failure to follow these precautions is the cause of more or less severe corruption.

    See here some tips: Using Writer / Word.

    Hello,

    Reinstall Libreoffice just in case and see if your old *.doc files open.

    Try to find the first file and follow @trotte-menu's advice.
