MSI laptop overheating

Hello,

I’m trying to post here in hopes of finding an answer.

My MSI GS75 Stealth laptop overheats when I play (currently Valorant, despite medium graphics and pretty low FPS).
This only happens intermittently; everything was working fine these past few days, and since this morning after 20 minutes of gameplay, my laptop starts to ventilate at full speed for 2–3 seconds before shutting down.

This afternoon, I removed the cover to see if dust had accumulated, but apart from a small "tuft," there was nothing at all.

I have no other issues with resource-intensive software like Premiere Pro or After Effects.

My laptop is no longer under warranty, and I had previously sent it to the customer service, which had replaced the cooling system that apparently could have had a problem.

I hope to get a response that can help me resolve this issue!

Thank you and have a great end of the day!

Hello,

You might want to try changing the thermal paste on your laptop. With a good tutorial and some proper tools, it's not complicated at all. You can also ask a professional to do it for you. How long has it been running?

Hello !

Thanks for your reply! I tried again the next day and there was no more problem. Yesterday it happened again once after several hours of gaming. I opened the window (it was below 5° outside, so it really cooled down the room and the PC) and there were no more issues afterwards.

I’ll try to look into changing the thermal paste.

I got it in January 2021, but it only ran at full capacity at the end of 2021, let's say.

Hello,

I also have the same issue with the same computer. Did you change the thermal paste and does it solve the problem? Thank you.

Don't ask yourself the question, just do it. It's nothing at all. We make a big deal out of it, and once we've done it, we say to ourselves, "why didn't I do it earlier?" Honestly, with a good tutorial and if we're normally constituted, it's easy.
