Select the video thumbnail visible in Windows or HTML

Hello,
When I export my video edit or short film in MP4 format after modifications, I always see the first image of my video edit as a thumbnail in the file explorer or on my HTML pages. Do you know how to choose an image from the film as a thumbnail that would be more representative of the edit?
I hope I expressed myself well and that you understood what I mean.
I searched on Google but found nothing useful.
Thanks in advance
PS: I make my edits with Shotcut

Hello, just choose during editing and copy a scene or a photo that is in your clip and place it at the beginning of the clip.

hey bro
I'd really like to know how you do that ???
indeed it's the right solution..but how does it work ?????
on my old dinosaur windaube only videos longer than 2 seconds are getting vignetted
so I have to make an intro > 2 seconds
do you have a softy for the old-timers ??
cia ciao
Hello Fmq, we're forgetting the Windows thumbnails, we need to do this beforehand. Let me explain: on my timeline in my editing software, I have my scenes and also some photos. When I filmed the first scene, it often doesn't match for making the intro of the clip. Either I put a title with a fixed or animated background line (which I crop) that I go and find on my timeline, or I take a screenshot of an animated scene, retrieve the image in my "snapshot" folder, or copy and then paste it at the beginning of the clip. It’s nothing complicated.
PS I remember when I was making DVDs, I had to choose the scene or the image to put on the menu thumbnail; it's not the same at all.
I understand your surprise; you can't modify a video file to change an image that you don't like.
We can at least put a VLC icon or something similar.

Hello everyone
So I found out how to choose the thumbnail, I'm talking about the ShotCut software, the chosen image is located exactly at the two-second mark.
At the 2-second mark, here’s what it looks like
I put an image for 2 hundredths of a second, so it's practically invisible in direct playback

and here's what it looks like in the browser after saving

Thank you for your help, especially to
Who gave me the idea about the timing
Alright, tomorrow I’ll close the topic, I hope this will help other video fans
