Thunderbird - Spell checker not working anymore

Hello,

For some time now, I've noticed that the spell checker in Thunderbird is no longer working.

I have checked the writing options to ensure that the spell checking while typing is activated.

Despite adding the French dictionary, the "Language" field remains empty:

For your information, my current version is 102.8.0.

How can I resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello,

Open Thunderbird.

Click on --►Write

Click on --► Options

Click on --► Check Spelling

Click on --► Download other dictionaries...

Click on --► Download the dictionary (324.2 KiB)

Click on --►Add

---------------------------------

Go back to the menu bar

Click on the line --► Check spelling while typing

Close Thunderbird.

Open Thunderbird.

Write your message.

If that doesn't work --►Download the language pack (692.2 KiB)

Hello to nicoweb61 and Pistouri,

Thank you both so much for the question and the answer! I was stuck on the same problem with version 102.8.0 and the solution proposed by Pistouri, simple and clear, worked perfectly.

Hello Chloé,

There was indeed a bug in the last update with the Thunderbird Spell Checker.

It will probably be fixed in the next update.

An amusing story, on a friend's new Lenovo PC yesterday, I imported these Orange contacts into Thunderbird, and I couldn't remember how to sort them in A-Z order; the imported contacts were reversed from Z-A and I don't know why despite a good synchronization (I searched for a while to find the solution).

I applied the method and everything works

Question though: what is the difference between "the dictionary" and the "linguistic package" (in French). Thank you

Hello Lepeck,

Language packs:

Language packs are used to change the language of the Thunderbirds graphical interface, for example from French to English or Italian, etc.

Dictionary:

Thunderbird comes with a built-in French dictionary, so there is generally no need to add a French dictionary.

Spelling checker bug:
For the bug in the Thunderbird 102.8.0 update, it was necessary to add it to resolve the problem.

And enable spell checking in the menu bar.
