Magic Keyboard disconnected at computer startup

Hello,

I just changed my keyboard for my iMac (High Sierra 10.13.6).

The magic keyboard is properly connected via Bluetooth, charged, and recognized.

Yet every day when I turn on my computer, I can’t use it to enter my password... I have to plug in the cable.

I was advised to uninstall the Bluetooth module and restart it, but how can I do that since both the keyboard AND mouse are connected via Bluetooth?

Thank you for your advice!

    Hello,

I don't know if this will work for you, but:

When you turn on the iMac, does your mouse work? If yes, go to the password field and press the CAPSLOCK key several times; does it turn on and off? If yes, then you should be able to start typing your password, making sure you are in the password input field.

Solution 2: Turn off and on the keyboard using the switch on the top right side of your keyboard; if I remember correctly, there is a small on/off module that you can use to see if it responds.

Good evening! Thank you for your reply.

You gave me the idea to check if the issue was with the caps lock key, as it indeed does not light up.

I have to enter my password while holding down the "single" caps key, which is a bit annoying...

Once the password is entered, the caps lock "agrees" to turn on!

I have never had this issue with my previous keyboard.

I don't really know if this is "normal" or if I should report it to my Apple dealer...

      Thanks in any case!
