Hello,

I am currently using an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G as both the processor and graphics card for my computer.

I was playing Battlefield 5 and noticed that the processor was utilized at 10% and heated up from 66 to 78 degrees. Knowing that I don't have a very efficient case fan, I was wondering if this temperature is normal.

Additionally, I recently ran an OCCT test, and my processor, when used at 100%, exceeds 80 degrees.

It's worth noting that it is overclocked, and it goes from 3.5 GHz, I believe, to 4.5 GHz, and that during office use, it is around 40 to 50 degrees max.

Thank you and have a good evening,

Paul

    Hello

With the cooler provided with the processor, these temperatures are normal

Thank you for your response. Are these temperatures harmful to the processor in the long term? And will a better case fan improve the temperature?

      Thank you!

If it doesn't exceed 80/85°, there will be no impact on longevity.

To really lower the temperature, and if the heatsink is the original one, replacing it with a more efficient one will be a more effective solution, but yes, improving the case cooling helps too. The ideal is to have two fans, one that brings in air and the other for exhaust to remove hot air.

And if we only have one case fan, should it be set to exhaust hot air or to bring in air?

With a single one, for extraction, to evacuate the hot air.

    Hello

Overclocked like that and OCCT doing a "burn" meaning it runs it at full power the whole time during the test is good, yes.

(It's more suited for applications with the processor's integrated graphics, not really for gaming, and it's the same with all processors by the way, don't bother trying to buy demanding or too recent games).
