Unable to update Windows 11 (21H2)
serpro51 -
Hello,-7020
As the owner of an HP Laptop 14-cfoxxx, I was able to upgrade it to Windows 11 version 21H2 on 04/15/2022.
My Intel Core I3 7020U processor was compatible at that time, but since then, this processor is no longer compatible (go figure!) however, all the other specifications are correct.
Is it still possible to upgrade to version 22H2?
Microsoft is completely ridiculous: compatible processors one day but not the next!
Does anyone have a solution to suggest to me?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
The i3 7020U has never been officially compatible with Windows 11, but that doesn't prevent the installation of the latter and tinkering with the registers to continue receiving updates.
Hello,
Contrary to what you seem to say, I have never tampered with anything, and in April 2022 this processor was completely compatible, and the installation of Windows 11 was carried out with Windows Update!!!
Besides, I am nearly 80 years old, and with Alzheimer starting to knock on the door, I am incapable (unfortunately) of tinkering!
Have a good evening
Hello, if it's to upgrade from W10 to W11, the easiest way is to use MediaCreationTool.bat in auto setup, it works very well. For a complete installation, you need to tweak the registry as indicated by the enthusiast to force the installation. Best regards,
Hello
As can be seen here:
Edit:
Well, the link doesn't work... type "windows 11 on intel core i3-7020u" and it's the first result.
This processor was at one time validated and then presumably removed from the list for reasons likely related to performance or security (assumption)
So indeed the situation is absurd... what does Windows update say? Do you have no updates at all?
Hello (sorry for the delay: it's Sunday!)
Here are the quality updates:
- KB 5021234 on 12/18/22
- KB 5022287 on 01/23/23
- KB 5019274 on 01/23/23
- KB 4023057 on 01/23/23
- KB 5022479 on 02/04/23
These are only quality updates, at least the latest ones received!
Best regards
Thank you for the feedback .....
Indeed this version is outdated ...however, as mentioned earlier, it seems that the issue comes from the incompatibility of the processor, and to solve the problem, it is necessary to reinstall W11 to work around the issue ..
There are several ways to do this, but personally and based on experience, method No. 3 is my favorite ..... See ►This link (Method No. 3: using the Rufus software (new installation) and be sure to follow the step-by-step instructions, and in principle, it should be fine
Info ► A USB key of at least 8GB is required, which will be kept in case of reinstallation
Cheers ► See you+
No luck,
after rebooting from USB the following message:
"The upgrade option is not available if you start your computer using the installation media
Please remove the installation media and restart your computer
When the computer starts normally insert the installation media and run the installer "
So for now I'm giving up and sticking with my 21H2 (Grr...)
Good evening and enjoy your meal
