Good evening my friends,

problem solved

The issue was due to an update of the KAMO software by Piriform that protects users' privacy.

Well, of course!!!

Straight to the trash

Thanks again to everyone

Sincerely

Good evening,

So it is indeed software, if not for security, at least for confidentiality, that was responsible for the situation; in this area, less is often more, or at least it's best to avoid the simultaneous use of products with the same effect (knowing that even if we lock the privacy options of browsers and even if we add an extra layer via third-party software, strict confidentiality on the Internet remains somewhat of a pipe dream...).

Hello,

You can try using the other version of FileZilla... the "Portable" version for example.

You can also use it in "Compatible" mode... or stick with Windows 10.

Hello,

FileZilla is compatible with Windows 8 to Windows 11 without any particular updates; the issue is therefore more likely related to a Windows setting (firewall...).

I am not using a Free personal page but Orange, which suggests a problem with the encryption mode settings: with Orange "Use Explicit FTP over TLS if available", port unspecified 21 by default, Logon Type "normal", Advanced "default" (be careful if there is an explicit Proxy or if your protection software creates one, even when disabled, there is always some background activity), Transfer Settings "Default" and Charset "Autodetect".

Your screenshot shows us that the server may not support the security mode you have chosen (it might not exist, surprisingly, so should it be removed?).

The other hypothesis is that your site contains extended characters in the file names (accents, maybe the ampersand...) in which case the server, failing to interpret them, defaults to a motherly retreat by requesting an English character set by default (ASCII).

Good evening,

it's me again

I have 2 PCs, one with updated Windows 10, no problems, immediate opening of the server on my personal pages

the second PC under updated Windows 11, no editing of my personal pages

FileZilla is set up exactly the same way on both PCs

in passive mode, same result

in your opinion, could an update of Windows 11 be the cause of this problem?

I also tested with EDGE - CHROME and FIREFOX as browsers, same

I also tried with another software WINSCP, same

as mentioned above, it works with the FREE interface

It's normal that browsers like Firefox and Chromium no longer support FTP.

The connection to the site works fine, so it's not FileZilla (nor, I suppose, WINSCP) that is blocked by Windows.

I therefore don't see what Windows has to do with it directly (I don't know if the FTP protocol is launched directly from the FTP client by a dedicated executable or through the one from Windows); it is probably that the Windows firewall (or a third-party product) is blocking connections on the necessary ports, assuming the security mode is the same on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Hello,

Maybe port 21 is not open on the BOX for this PC...???

Hello,

Port 21 (and 20) alone is not enough; it's passive. The Box has no reason to filter port 21 unless we have imposed it ourselves (through a NAT rule directed at a particular local machine), which doesn't really make sense if we haven't installed an FTP server there.

Hello,

Personally, the download link via the Filezilla site (fr and com) leads to 'sponsored' versions, however clicking on 'Show additional download options' brings you to non-sponsored versions.. which Windows 11 does not block the installation. That was my concern.

Peace
