USB drive not recognized.

Hello,

I have suddenly lost the use of my USB drive, which no longer appears in my PC.
However, I can find it via the disk management tool, but it indicates No media, and the capacity shown is 0 MB.
Moreover, the chkdsk command returns the following error: Unable to open the volume for direct access.

Data recovery software does not detect the USB drive.

What do you think?

Hello.

Try it on another PC; if it's the same, it seems that your key is apparently faulty.

Hello,

Tell me more about your USB drive (Brand, Model, Size) * If applicable

And create a report with ChipGenius

https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/ChipGenius.shtml

With a right-click in the ChipGenius window > "Ok" > Paste (In your next reply)

Note: It may be perceived as a virus even though it is not.

Disable the real-time protection of your antivirus while performing this operation

If you want the latest version (sometimes it provides more information), download it here at the bottom of the usbdev.ru site

https://www.usbdev.ru/files/chipgenius/

It's either a 16GB or 8GB USB key, no more.

You won't be able to recover the data if you flash the firmware, but it may be able to repair the key.

The tools for FirstChip controllers are here https://www.usbdev.ru/files/firstchip/

The tools that may interest you are the first 4 from the top, but especially the 3rd and 4th (MPTool), I don't know if you'll need the first or the second (APTool) before MPTool.

Start with the latest versions available (at the bottom) of FirstChip FC1178/FC1179 MpTools

Here https://www.usbdev.ru/files/firstchip/fc1179mptools/

FirstChip FC1178/FC1179 MpTools V1.0.5.2 (2022-06-01)

If that doesn't work, try older versions...

Thank you for your response. What interests me above all is to recover the data that was on my USB stick.

I tried the FirstChip FC1178/FC1179 MpTools V1.0.5.2 (2022-06-01), but it gives me error message number 19. I don't know what that means.

I will try the other versions this evening.

Best regards,

If you manage to flash the firmware without the LLF (Low Level Format) mode, there may be a slim chance of recovering the data using a program like Photorec or Recuva, for example.

If you use the LLF, forget about it.
