Unable to obtain an app password

Hello everyone,

Everything is said in the title...

I've been trying -for a few days now- to set up my Yahoo accounts on Outlook 365 on a new computer.

When I log into the Yahoo Mail site to get an App Password, I get a response:

Sorry! This feature is not available at the moment.

Is there a limit on the number of devices on which we can enter the account settings?

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

If so, do you know how to solve it?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards

    Hello,

Many users are reporting this issue, which has been known for several months now.

Yahoo confirms that it is currently no longer possible to generate app passwords and is encouraging users to use the Yahoo Mail app or the website.

Unfortunately, you cannot set up your account with Outlook for now.

    To be continued.

Same for me, I wanted to use Outlook for my Yahoo account, same thing, after logging into my Yahoo mail account to assign a password for the Outlook Windows app.

The message says sorry! This feature is not available at the moment.

If this is not resolved in a few weeks, I will ditch my Yahoo mail account and open an account elsewhere!

Same problem, impossible to contact/report the issue to Yahoo.

I'm here to see if someone has a solution.

    Hello Rio,

Did you do any special manipulation to make it work?

I'm still stuck with that damned response: "Sorry! This feature is not available at the moment."

    Grrrr.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this matter.

    Regards to all.

Hello, not at all, I was trying every day and finally after 2 weeks, they generated a password for me.

    Nothing changed on my end.

It really seemed to be on their side.

I tried it a few times again and it worked every time.

    Good luck

Same for me, I can't generate a password.

    Hello,

I just changed computers and I have to use the new version of Outlook.

Same for me, it's impossible to generate a Yahoo password and on the other hand, the new version of Outlook doesn't even ask for a password... (and of course nothing works because of that)

I'm going to lose my mind.

    Thanks technology.

    Hello,

I think you need to use the "Authenticator" app from Microsoft.

    - Install the latest version of Outlook

    - Install the "Authenticator" app from Microsoft (more convenient on mobile).

    - Enable Two-step verification via your Yahoo account.

With the "Authenticator" app from Microsoft, use the automatically generated password to log into your Outlook account.

      Hello Maxime,

Can you elaborate? I don’t quite understand. Maybe you would be our savior? :-)
