Hello

I have an old laptop with XP Home Edition that I use once a week for an association. I need to find a compatible printer. I have a HP3639 in mind. Can someone tell me if it will work with XP on my PC, please?

Thank you in advance

Best regards

    Hello Bazfile

Thank you very much for your reply. One last silly question for you: "XP Home Edition" is it 32 or 64 bits?

Generally, it's in 32-bit; there were very few versions of Windows XP in 64-bit. You can check by right-clicking on My Computer and then on Properties.

I'm reading on my laptop: AMD Athlon 64x2 dual.

Does that give you an idea?

It's the processor, it has nothing to do with it, it's Windows that needs to be looked at; in general, 32-bit is referred to as X86. In any case, only the XP PRO versions were offered in 32 and 64-bit.

I didn't find it, but I saw on the forum that only the PRO versions were in 64 bits, so I have my answer.

My old laptop doesn't connect to the internet, so how can I download the driver if possible, please?

    Thank you.

Sorry to bother you once again, but you didn't tell me how to download the driver on my old laptop that doesn't have internet access?

I can see the driver on my desktop PC, but I don't know if I can transfer it with a USB stick or an external hard drive!!!

You copy what you downloaded onto a USB drive that you connect to your PC running Windows XP and you install the driver.

I tried to find the driver with XP 32 bits on the link you sent me and it says they can't retrieve the driver and that I need to change the operating mode!!!

I tested it and it works; here is the complete pack for XP (software and driver). To download it, click this link.

ok Thank you very much. It's not going to be possible because on the old PC it needs .NET Framework and to install it I need an internet connection that I don't have...

    Thanks anyway for everything

    Best regards

Your version of Windows XP is not up to date; you need to install the service packs.

If your version of Windows XP has SP1, you need to install SP2 and then SP3; if it already has SP2, you only need to install SP3.

      SP2 https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/20757-sp2-windows-xp/

      SP3 https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/systemes-d-exploitation/20759-sp3-windows-xp/

Why is it not connected to the internet? Because without the internet, it cannot be updated.

It's an old PC that only gets used once a week... But I managed to connect my box to it and apparently I'm online...
