Hello,

The screen had a black line, then it went completely black a few weeks later. You can still see the image when you shine a flashlight on it.

It seems to be the classic failure in this family of Philips TVs: the LED backlight strips are dead. I would like to replace them, but I have two problems:

1 - I can't find the reference. The only vendor I've found offers 3 different references, 2 of which are "genuine Philips".

2 - I don't know how to access the LED strips, let alone read their reference. I have already removed the back cover. Has anyone done a tutorial?

Thank you for reading.

    Hello,

Thanks to this video from another TV, I saw more or less how to carry out the repair. Here it is in pictures below. Since I did it three weeks ago, it's possible that I forgot something. In any case, the photos were taken during the repair.

    List of necessary materials:

    - a large flat and soft surface to lay the TV on and open it. For example, a large bed.

    - Phillips screwdrivers, scissors, flat pliers

    - thin double-sided adhesive tape

    - strong adhesive tape like chaterton (3M Super 33)

    - LED strip kit

    Step 1: remove the stand

Step 2: remove all the screws on the 4 sides and take off the black cover

Step 3: clear the area to unclamp the 3 spacers. To do this, disconnect the connectors and remove the power board, disconnect the marked ribbon cable.

Remove the speakers, the metal brackets, and the shielding

Step 4: unclamp the black plastic frame (without breaking the rather fragile clips), then unscrew the screws from all 4 sides.

Step 5: flip the metal chassis like a wallet with the LCD ribbons as hinges. Be careful not to force the ribbons.

Step 6: take out the white sheets while noting their stacking order.

There will be the last sheet left which is glued on top of the LEDs and is also held by the 3 spacers.

Step 7: carefully remove the 3 spacers (fragile). To do this, pinch the clips from the other side, at the spots that were freed in step 3.

Step 8: carefully and gently peel off this last white sheet. It is glued by several strips of double-sided tape.

The LED strips are now accessible.

Step 9: replace the LED strips

To do this, cut or remove the double-sided tape, unscrew the screws, disconnect the connectors.

Step 10: Check that the connectors are properly in place. It would be silly to have to start all over again because a connector is not properly plugged in!

Reapply double-sided tape in the same places as the old one.

Carefully replace the white sheet centered perfectly on the LEDs. Due to the double-sided tape, any repositioning is impossible. It must be placed correctly the first time!

Then, reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly: the 3 spacers, the rigid white sheet, and then the flexible white sheet.

The folding of the "wallet" is delicate. The LCD can chip if the metal sheet is not perfectly centered.

After that, there are no special difficulties.

Reapply chaterton to replace the original one which no longer sticks.

    Hello,

Here is what the backlight kit looks like, consisting of 5 aluminum strips supporting 12 LEDs each:

I still need to assemble it, but I don't know how to proceed to access the backlight, nor the precautions to take to avoid damaging anything in the process.

It would be great if there was a tutorial!
