Hello
I have a small network consisting of a Bouygues 4G router to which my photocopier and my Synology NAS are connected.
I am unable to configure my photocopier to send the scanned documents to the NAS. They are both on the same network, and there is no firewall. I have created my user 'scan' with write rights on the shared folder. I've tried both SMB and FTP, but neither works. I read that Samba only works on Windows. Thank you for your help.

Hi
SMB is also supported by DSM (provided it is enabled and correctly configured (SMB Versions))
What exactly did you put as the path in your photocopier?

For SMB: I put the name of the path indicated in the share: Commun/6000 temp/scans.
The 'scans' directory is shared. The scan user has write permissions. I can access it perfectly from my Mac.

This is not a "fashionable" SMB path (UNC) \\server name (or IP address)\shared folder
Example at my place to access the Datas folder of the user toto
\\192.168.1.150\homes\toto\Datas\
Example at my place to access the Datas folder of the user toto
\\192.168.1.150\homes\toto\Datas\
I tried to re-enter the full path. However, I have some doubts about the path formatting.
If the protocol is samba, the path is in the form \\192.168.1.150\volume1\6000 temp\scans
If the protocol is ftp, I entered the path 192.168.1.150/volume1/6000 temp/scans
I must be making some simple mistake in the access path, but I don't have the perspective to see it.
Under ftp, I get the message Transfer job to the network failed. Under samba, I get the message Connection failed. Check the password and/or configuration
I've tested everything and nothing works, it's frustrating, it's been a week wasted and the users are unhappy...

192.168.1.150 is the IP of my NAS, not necessarily yours (you can also use the NAS name instead)
Mine is named DS218, by typing \\DS218 (or \\192.168.1.150) it connects me to the home directory of the user toto because I have saved this user and its password on my client PC.
I then refine the path to the desired subdirectory
I don't see where you indicate which user it is in your path
Where do you see, in DSM, the share name of the Scans folder?
Assuming that 6000 temp is correct, spaces are not allowed and in my opinion volume1 is not the name of the Homes directory of your NAS

When I go to my RS217, in the shared folders section I have only one share: the name of the company. I shared a folder "scans" located under Nomentreprise/6000 Temp/scans
In the scan.xst file on my Xerox 7225 photocopier I noted
protocol: smb
@ ip: server ip address at 192.168.1.50
Share: nomentreprise (name without spaces)
Document path: nomentreprise\6000 TEMP\SCANS or nomentreprise/6000 TEMP/SCANS (neither works)
The result is always: "programming conflict. Specified path not valid." Could the problem be due to the space between 6000 and temp?

1 - The IP address of your NAS is 192.168.1.150 or 192.168.1.50 or another one?
2 - For the space, uh, do you read the answers?
I think you should get local help.
When I was still active, Xerox had good customer support.
Edit: apparently, you can configure everything via the graphical interface, with the added function Browse to specify the destination directory.

In addition to my last message, I performed another test. On my volume1, I created a second share entitled "scans". I allowed the user Scan to write in it.
The scan still does not work, so the problem does not come from the space between the 6000 and the temp.
The message is the same: "programming conflict. Specified path is invalid".
I noted the document path: 192.168.1.50\volume1\SCANS then 192.168.1.50/volume1/SCANS then 192.168.1.50/SCANS then 192.168.1.50\SCANS then 192.168.1.50\SCANS\ then 192.168.1.50/SCANS/

I added a video in my previous response that shows how to set the destination directory using the graphical interface with the Browse function.

Hi,
are you accessing the shares from a PC or a Mac?
Samba doesn't exist on Windows; instead, it's the SMB protocol that takes its place. Samba actually replaces or rather allows access to Windows networks from non-Windows machines (Unix/Linux/MacOS....)
Access is made through UNC either by machine_name\share_name\folder or ip_address\share_name\folder.
However,
the copier must run on Linux, so it uses more of a smbclient syntax.
It's also possible that it only uses the old SMBv1 and that this is not accepted by the NAS, check the configuration.

Hello. Thanks to the video, I realized that I was accessing the Scanning menu instead of the Address Book. I configured a user named scan_user by resetting all the settings. Unfortunately, I'm stuck because on my Xerox WorkCentre 7225i copier, I do not have the "Scan to" menu. I have "Copy, Email, Print from, ID Copy, and Workflow Scanning".
How can I make the "Scan to" menu appear?
How can I make the "Scan to" menu appear?
In addition to my last message, the Scan icon is completely absent from the touchscreen; it is not grayed out as stated in the manual:
"If the scanning destination properties are not configured correctly, the Scan icon is grayed out on the touchscreen.
To scan an image and send it to a destination:
1. Place the document on the exposure glass or in the document feeder.
2. Press the Services Home button, then press Scan."
