Even and Odd Pagination Page by Page

Hello,

I created my book (568P) in facing pages, but the printer is asking for a document with single pages and 5 mm bleed all around.

However, when I switch to single pages, all my pages adopt the layout of the even pages.

Do you have a solution to apply one layout to all the even pages and a different layout to all the odd pages? Or another technique?

    Hello,

I didn't understand why you need two different templates? The margin applies to all pages, doesn't it?

    Best regards.

I have a template for my even pages and a template for my odd pages (the pagination being either at the bottom left or at the bottom right).

    Hello,

one possible solution is to center the pagination.

I had already used this trick for another catalog, but aesthetically it is not feasible for this one.

Since you set up your document with facing pages... when exporting to PDF, by unchecking "spread" you should have individual pages...
    Is that not the case?

Yes, but I need a 5 mm bleed all around each page
If I export page by page, there won't be any bleeds in the small background.

      Of course!..
In fact, in the center of a layout with the pages facing each other, you have a bleed area if you have, for example, an image spanning two consecutive pages.. that's actually the point of working in double-page layout..

The bleed on the small margin is of no importance since it will necessarily be trimmed later during the imposition.

    Thank you for your response,

Given the thickness of the catalog, the printer will use 5mm on the left for stitching. If I don't include bleed on the inside, there is a risk of seeing a white strip in the middle, right?

And when I export this way, the bleed from the left page comes into the bleed of the right page, is that normal?

Yes, it is normal that in the PDF export of a left page (for example), you find part of the objects from the right page on the right edge (the one at the fold) in the bleed (when your Indesign document has facing pages).
The PDF file exported from Indesign contains areas on the page that define the trim size, the bleed, etc.
The imposition software will recognize these areas and place the page accordingly during the imposition.

Depending on what the publisher or you decide, your book will be made as a bound book or as a brochure. Generally, it is printed in the form of a booklet of 8 or 16 pages (or more depending on the type of paper) that will be assembled to form your book. A bound book can open up to the fold; a paperback much less!
