Hello, I'm new to PCs and I would like to send an ID photo, but how do I do it?

To scan a photo, put your photo in the scanner, and then go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, and click on the Paint program. When Paint is open, click on File, and then click on From a scanner or camera... and then the photo you inserted into your scanner should scan automatically, and you will be able to view it in the Paint program. When the photo appears, click on File and then click on Save As..... and a window will open where you choose the .JPEG extension in the Type at the bottom of this window, and in the File Name, you give it the name you want for this photo and save it in the folder of your choice..... for example: you can open a new folder that you will call My Photos and click on Save to the right of your photo's name.

Allow me to provide a brief recap;  Assuming you are in front of a computer and a scanner, and nothing has been done.  1. Read the quick setup manual for the scanner.  Install the drivers;  Generally, you just need to insert the installation disc, run it (which is often automatic) and follow the instructions to install the drivers.  Without drivers, the computer may not "see" the scanner.  Connect the scanner following the steps.  2. Use the scanner (turned on, of course).  Usually, a software "icon" appears on the desktop after installation. For example, "Epson Scan".   Otherwise, in Windows 7, go to "Start" (Windows logo at the bottom left), "Programs" and "Windows Fax and Scan".  3. Place the document in the scanner.  Click on "New Scan".  Press "Preview" (optional)  Adjust the cropping (optional)  Press "Scan".  The result should automatically be saved in the "Documents" library, in a folder called "Scanned Documents".  Feel free to rename it later.  Note: The "size" of an image is determined by its resolution. The higher the resolution (e.g., 600 dpi), the "heavier" it is in memory, and potentially "larger". For sending by email, it seems to me that exceeding 150 dpi is unnecessary, as a screen displays at 72 dpi.  4. To send by email, attach it as a "file" when composing the email.  This is not a detailed description, but I hope it is a useful summary.  "Drell"
