Hello,
I recently installed Windows 11 (after a clean install of Windows 10 + immediate OS update).
Overall it's stable except for the resume after lock screen or screensaver.
In short, the open programs close automatically after resuming from a session via password, or simply after a screensaver.
Sometimes it's my AMD graphics driver that disconnects and then I have no image, so I have to reboot the machine.
Sometimes the machine also restarts instead of resuming.
The problem occurs often, but not every time.
What I tried:
- reinstalled the graphics driver
- adjusted power options: hybrid sleep, sleep after, etc...
- other things I can't recall right now
Note that this phenomenon only happens after a screensaver resume or locked session resume, never during activity.
It's a newly built PC I assembled myself; the motherboard is a Gigabyte if that helps.
So if you have the same problem or any suggestions, I’m all ears.
Thanks

Well,
I think I’ve fixed the issue, at least I no longer get those black screens after several sleep attempts.
It apparently comes from my AMD graphics driver: the ULPS function that allows the GPU to “hibernate” to save energy must be disabled.
- Go to run regedit.exe
- search for "ULPS" using the search with the "F3" key
- set the registry "EnableUlps" to the value 0
- restart the system
there you go
