Internet connection limited to 100 Mbps

Hello everyone,

I have a problem that's been driving me crazy for a few days.

I recently acquired a MAG B550 Tomahawk motherboard to replace my old B450 Gaming Plus Max motherboard.

After installation, the PC works but I've noticed that the internet isn't working.
I switched to a speed of 100 Mbps.

I don't understand why; I have already reset the network settings but it still doesn't work.

For your information, I have:
- a Freebox Delta
- a Cat7 Ethernet cable
- and I have to go through a "it works" powerline adapter with a speed of 500 Mbps.

    Hi,
    you've probably never checked, but your powerline adapter should have an ethernet port at 100Mbit/s, which is very common on those things.
    Try connecting your PC directly to the box to see.
    After that,
    for your ethernet port, you should have drivers to install if you haven't done so.

    But I didn't have this problem with my old motherboard (same port, same cable) and I was capped at 500 Mbits/s.

      And how are you measuring it now?
      Precisely...
      As for before, it’s going to be hard to verify, indeed.
      The cable has no relevance in this matter, especially if you're using powerline adapters.
      What is the exact and precise model of these adapters?

    On the network and sharing center of my PC.
    For the powerline adapters, they are "i.t.Works - Kit 2 WiFi Powerline Adapters".

      Yes, so the speed of your Ethernet port...
      It’s not easy to find precise information on these powerline modems, but I doubt the ports are gigabit.
      Have you tried connecting your PC directly?
      P.S.,
      powerline modems that claim to provide 500 Mbit/s don’t actually exist.

    Yes, I directly connected my Ethernet cable to my router and I'm still stuck at 100Mbps.

      Check that your card is properly set to auto debit in the driver's advanced settings.

        Yes, "Speed & Duplex" is indeed set to Auto-Negotiation.

        But you will never get 500 Mb/s with it... not even in Ethernet.

        So in the end, it's not the powerline adapter that's the problem.

    I don't know who you are, or how you did this, but I had already tried this several times and strangely when you told me to do it again... it works!!!!!! I switched to 1Gbits/s

      As already mentioned, with a 500 Mbps powerline adapter (which is only the theoretical modulation speed of the modem), you cannot achieve a throughput of 1 Gb/s.

    Not directly on my box
    Since my CPL is limited to 500Mbits/s

    After that, I don't want to be greedy, but on my new motherboard, I have a port that can go up to 2 5Gbits/s

    I wanted to know if it was possible to reach that speed?

    Since my Freebox Delta can theoretically go up to 10Gbits/s and I have a cat7 cable, I don't think it would be impossible.

      If you have a 2.5 Gbit port, normally, you can get close to this speed or even more with an adapter

        The bandwidth of a DAC cable is 10 Gbit/s, nothing more, connected to the proper card; after that, there will be a bottleneck at the fiber level for that bandwidth.
