Hello,
For a few months now, I've been having recurring transfer issues with one of my secondary internal hard drives. It sometimes disappears from Windows 10 during data transfer, which results in data corruption and triggers the window below. I changed the SATA cable for a new one and connected it to another SATA port on my motherboard. Despite this, there has been no change.
A few days ago, I completely deleted my primary hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10, but the problem persists.
My PC isn't slow, and the hard drive isn't making more noise than usual.
I'm also posting a screenshot of CrystalDiskInfo regarding the health status of this hard drive.
Can you please help me?
Thank you

Hi, either there's a problem with defective blocks, you can check that with the software "HD Tune" under the "error scan" tab
or the hard drive is at the end of its life.
Try running this command in the Command Prompt (cmd) chkdsk /R x: x=drive letter which seems to be J.
Good luck -
Hello,
Sorry for the lack of responsiveness lol.
This morning Windows did a chkdsk by itself; it displayed a window indicating that the PC needed to restart for that. It then performed a chkdsk in DOS before relaunching Windows; after that, I didn't have any report available to review the results.
If there were any bad blocks, wouldn’t they be visible among the values present in the CrystalDiskinfo capture that I attached to my first message? -
Hello,
Thank you for your response and your clarifications regarding the IDs. As for the event log, I no longer have the one corresponding to the date in question because I reinstalled Windows.
Do you have a specific software name to recommend for checking if it involves bad sectors and possibly repairing them?
Will the data currently present on bad sectors remain intact once the bad sectors in question are repaired or marked as read-only? -
I just did a quick scan with HD Tune, it doesn't detect any defective sectors. I'm also in the process of copying data from this hard drive to another to save as much as possible, but right now the transfer rate during copying sometimes hovers around 40 kilobytes/s.

Hello.
I'm sorry for you :( / a 6TB hard drive is indeed sad
Read until the end before starting anything ^^ it's a bit long :p ...
In HDTune, try to run a benchmark and make sure to select the correct hard drive (WDC WD60EZAZ) /
Because by default, HDTune automatically selects your system drive (your SSD) ... I'm just mentioning this just in case : )
Check if the speed drops or not. You can also run another benchmark on a different hard drive for comparison
If the results are high and there’s no dramatic drop throughout (then the issue comes from elsewhere).
From my point of view, your 6TB hard drive is at the end of its life; but who knows.. maybe it's a driver issue (AHCI)
or a setting in your BIOS. (you'll need to check) > a small example of how it looks; when restarting the PC, press the Del/or Delete key several times during the PC startup to display your BIOS. Go to devices then SATA Controller. and check if you're in IDE or AHCI mode.
If you're in IDE (don't change anything because you'll need to tweak the Windows registry before switching to AHCI mode) otherwise you won't have access to your Windows ^^
There's also the fact of converting the hard drive to GPT instead of MBR (the GPT format supports drives over 2.2TB) if it hasn’t been done already;
Here’s an illustrative site on how to convert your hard drive without losing the data inside > https://lecrabeinfo.net/comment-convertir-un-disque-dur-ssd-mbr-en-gpt-sur-windows-10-8-et-7.html
Check your device manager (type gest in Windows...) it will display it directly. Then open Disk Drives > double-click on your 6TB hard drive; go to the Policies tab and do as shown in the image below : )
Restart the PC, then rerun a test with HDTune to check if the speed is higher or not...
Finally, I recommend the site TousLesDrivers, install this little software https://fichiers2.touslesdrivers.com/Mes_Drivers_3.0.4.exe, run it and wait; it will take you directly to their site and display/detect all new driver updates.
PS: in your first post, you mentioned >Microsoft .NET Framework v4.0.30319
you need version 4.5 > https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/download/details.aspx?id=30653

Hello,
Thank you for providing such a detailed response!
I couldn't reply before you posted this response, so here’s what I did before you posted it. With the idea of letting a PC run for hours to try and recover what could be salvaged, I connected the faulty hard drive directly to a second PC, whose description you will find below if it can help answer the question I am asking. It managed to recognize the drive itself before starting Windows. Once it started up, I tried to copy the same folders onto the main hard drive (Windows) of the PC, which on my first PC had not been able to copy and were experiencing transfer drops. Oh miracle, the folders were copied without any issues!
On this wave of joy, I copied as much data as possible, storing it on the main hard drive and on external hard drives! Due to lack of space, I couldn't copy everything, but the most important files were copied! I have therefore unplugged the hard drive for now. The next day I ordered a new hard drive which should arrive this week; from there I will pray that the remaining data on the faulty hard drive is still accessible..
So, concerning the question, I would like to know why my first PC was not able to repair the errors (if there were any) unlike my second PC which made the recovery possible? (The version of Windows is the same on both PCs)
Another question, what is the point of using CrystalDiskInfo to know the health status of a hard drive if this stupid tool shows the status "Good" while my hard drive is dying?
Regarding Microsoft .NET Framework v4.0.30319, once I downloaded and launched the installation, it displays:
"Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed on this operating system. There is no need to install the .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable.
The same version or a later version of .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed on this computer."-
Hello.
Great news; can't wait for the arrival of the new HDD : )
what's the point of using CrystalDiskInfo .......if this idiot displays the status "Correct"
LoL don't ask me, it's you who used it ^^ (we can assume that the SMART of CrystalDisk analyzes the general state of the HDD; like the temperature and ensuring that there aren't too many errors and beyond a certain threshold; it will display that there is an issue somewhere.
I know some that showed "caution / see bad" status and their HDD had no problems; no bad sectors or anything; transfer speed OK...
I would like to know why my first PC was not able to repair errors (if there were any) unlike my 2nd PC which made recovery possible? (The Windows version is identical on both PCs)
The DOS commands > CHKDSK /R > /R checks for bad sectors on the HDD and recovers readable information. (it will create a Found000 file (hidden on your HDD) then we can retrieve this with a small software UnCHK or Chk-Back
To display hidden folders/files you need to open File Explorer Options tab View then do as below (marked in red)
The CHKDSK /F > /F allows for fixing detected errors
(I should have advised you this one before) & or a simple CHKDSK J: it would have analyzed all that and you would just have to take a screenshot at the end. and then run the parameter: /F for your faulty HDD.
Then, if your 1st PC had trouble while the 2nd did not;
Maybe an issue with your 1st PC. a driver not updated or not installed properly; even if everything seems correct.... > > > You're asking too much of me lol "I'm not omniscient" ^^;
It has happened to me to have issues, even if everything was up to date or seemed correct
the fact of having reinstalled or found a newer driver; helped me...
A quick example to illustrate > keyboard/mouse stuck 3-4 minutes at the Windows session opening (when typing the password) and this at every restart + the loading after entering the session.
And that even when I plugged into USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports
The ultimate solution was to uninstall the USB 3.0 drivers and after that everything was instant
> There you have the ups and downs of computing :p <

I didn't think to ask this question earlier..
I'm going to receive the new hard drive today or tomorrow, besides formatting it in NTFS, what is the first thing to do to make sure it has no problems?
The hard drive ordered is a "WD Red, Internal NAS Hard Drive 6 TB - 5400 rpm, SATA 6 Gb/s, SMR, 256 MB Cache, 3.5 inch"
Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07MYL7KVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I know some that showed "caution / see bad status" and their HDD had no issues; no bad sectors or anything; transfer speed OK...
So what do you recommend to be warned that one of my hard drives is about to fail, like a status similar to CrystalDiskInfo but that works... lol
I would like to know why my first PC was not able to repair errors (if there were any) unlike my second PC which made recovery possible? (The Windows version is identical on both PCs)
The DOS commands > CHKDSK /R > /R scans the bad sectors of the HDD and retrieves readable information. (it will create a Found000 file (hidden in your HDD) then we retrieve this with a small software like UnCHK or Chk-Back
To display hidden folders/files you need to open the File Explorer Options tab View and do as below (circled in red)
Yesterday before thinking about rereading the post regarding the "Found000" file, I remember I displayed the hidden files, and thinking that this file would still be present under Windows, without the hard drive in question being connected, I searched for the file with the explorer but found nothing..
Today, after rereading your post, I think that maybe it is necessary to use UnCHK or Chk-Back software for that file to be visible.. ? Or should I reconnect the hard drive to run CHKDSK again and generate a new one from there...?
How do you do quotations on your site? lol-
re-Saaaalut,
So...How do you make quotes on your site? lol
You have to click on the 4th button and in *code> copy-paste the quote here </code
So what do you advise me to be alerted if one of my hard drives is dying, like a status like CrystalDiskInfo but that works
Sorry, I don't use that kind of software; I have HDTune and CrystalDisk, but I rarely use them; and only to see the status of the drives (when I feel like it or when I notice there’s an issue...)
To answer your question; I know there are software even from Western Digital that provide diagnostic tools for drives and use SMART; but it’s the same as other software and in the end, it uses resources and runs in the background in Windows.
But since I don't use them; I wouldn't know how to advise you on that.Aside from formatting it to NTFS, what is the first thing to do to ensure that it has no problems?
I've had and I have drives (some are over 8 years old and still work well).
My only issues with some were due to bugs during writing/transferring/copying + forced shutdowns because the PC froze ^^ (and it was my fault) since I was doing several things at once :p
My advice would be...> to run a benchmark on your new drive, take a screenshot of its health status; save it somewhere and you can compare later (like 3-6 months or a year later)
a little example with one of my WD 14TB drives ^^ >
For me, this drive is in very good condition (like during its first use in June 2020 :p) the speed hasn't changed.
Plus, if we compare it to your 6TB; it has 2x more hours than yours (16336 vs 8247)
So be careful with your new drive; Wait for your transfers to finish one at a time or in groups
In general, (and it's normal) to notice a slight decrease during benchmarks in (I/O) [I/O = Input/Output or Read/Write ^^); it can take months or even years. Sometimes we are lucky and sometimes not.
Just avoid doing 40,000 things at once during your transfers/Copies/Movements to the same drive
I think it might be necessary to use UnCHK or Chk-Back software to make this file visible.. ? Or should I reconnect the hard drive to run CHKDSK again and generate a new one.. ?
These little software are only necessary at the time of recovery then you need to select the drive in question that you did a chkdsk /r on.
Connect the old 6TB drive and see if the hidden folders/files are visible. Then yes, you can run another chkdsk and then run the little software Chk-Back for example.
There you go, I hope all this helps you ^^

I just realized that I forgot to say "Hello"..
So hello lol -
You must have forgotten to read my response located above the one with the forgotten hello lol.

Hello,
As you asked me, I went through alllesdrivers.com to update them.
I'm sending you the screenshot of the summary.
Regarding the SM Bus Controller and the PCI Serial Port, I'm not sure what to do.
I have installed Intel HD Graphics 4600 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB as well as Realtek PCIeGbe Family Controller.
As for the "Standard AHCI SATA Controller," I don't know which one to choose.
I didn't want to mix the troubleshooting issues, so I hadn't mentioned it before, but for a few months now, I've been experiencing unbearable micro-freezes, just under half a second, even when I have nothing open and I move the mouse cursor.
Most frequently, this occurs when I'm on the internet.
Likewise, if I play a video on VLC at the same time, it freezes, and I hear a sort of crackling sound, the same happens when I play games.
I switched to Windows 10 over a year ago, and this problem has been present for a few months, so I'm thinking that updating the drivers might also resolve this issue..
-
Good evening,
You can remove the Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver; it's the graphics part of your CPU > (i7 4770S)
I suppose your screen is connected to your GTX1060 graphics card and not to your motherboard, right?
This will avoid conflicts. So the Nvidia driver for your GTX1060 is sufficient : )
You can install the PCH 8/9 14.8.16.1063 WHQL version of your AHCI SATA driver (in the 3rd position)
and finally, click here >>> https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Driver/mb_driver_intel_me_w10_5m.zip
I went to get it from the manufacturer’s site for your Motherboard ;) it will download directly.
Open it, there’s a 5M folder inside and then run the Setup
Restart your PC and then you can relaunch touslesdrivers to see if there’s a Warning /!\
Everything should be sorted out ;) it’s even possible that you won’t have any more problems with your old faulty HDD.

Hello,
Regarding "Intel HD Graphics 4600" in the device manager, I right-clicked then selected "Uninstall", restarted the computer, then in the device manager, I right-clicked and selected "Disable", restarted the computer, went back to the device manager, but "Intel HD Graphics 4600" is still present and the options "Uninstall" and "Disable" are still available.
In the device manager, I also have the entries "SM Bus Controllers" and "PCI Serial Port" for which it indicates "The drivers for this device are not installed."
I installed "PCH 8/9 14.8.16.1063 WHQL", however when I run the setup for "mb_driver_intel_me_w10_5m" it indicates that a newer version is already installed on my PC. Once I restarted all the drivers to check if there is a Warning /!\
There is only what is shown in the screenshot below.
Have a good day.

Hello
Alright, install the 2 versions of Intel Rapid Storage Enterprise
> C230/610, then version 5.5.0.
.
For the Intel graphics part, you can uninstall it in Apps and Features
If that doesn't work, I recommend the DDU software > https://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/games/PC/guru3d/ddu/[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip
After a restart, if the warning is still there ... try searching for updates in Windows Update
I had the same problem when switching to Win10
( we have the same socket (1150) except that I have an i7 4790S + 4790K + 4690K with motherboards > H97 + Z97 & Z87 ^^
Only with Windows Update was it able to find and install the drivers/PCI drivers...
-
-
There are several executables in the DRIVERS INTEL RAPID STORAGE TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE C230/C610 SERIES 4.7.0.1117 WHQL
Can you take a look please?
https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=23&v_code=58375
In Apps and Features, there is "Intel® Graphics Driver," but the installation date corresponds to today's date. What should I do?
Regarding the DDU software, there are all these options (screenshot below), what should I do?
After a restart, both warnings are still there...
No updates available via Windows Update.
-
Hi
but the installation date corresponds to today's date, so what should I do?
It looks like Win-Update installs it automatically for you;
Well then, let's prevent its installation ^^
Go to DDU
Select Device Type > GPU
Then Choose Device > INTEL
then click on Options and check at the bottom Prevent the download of drivers from "Windows Update"...
Here's what it looks like >
There are several executables in DRIVERS INTEL RAPID STORAGE TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE C230/C610 SERIES 4.7.0.1117 WHQL
Oh yeah, I just saw that indeed. Too bad, just install version 5.5.0.1367 (I think this one is an executable)
plus it's the most recent, so it should be fine.
I wanted us to install them one by one, to see if the warning would disappear, but let's just take the newer version :)

OK, there is confusion, last night I posted 3/4 of the response that I reposted to you this morning, because this morning I was surprised to find that my response had disappeared..
So when I redid my response this morning I forgot to post the screenshot below which specifies that there is no longer the line "Intel_Rapid_Storage_Technology_Enterprise_5.5.0.1367" in the downloads..
So maybe I installed it yesterday..
I don't remember.
I looked in the device manager and in storage controllers, I found the line "Intel(R) C220 series chipset SATA AHCI Controller version 5.5.0.13.34
But no line "Intel 8 Series/C220 chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller" but maybe I’m not looking in the right place..
-
Good evening,
the line DEV_8C3D corresponds to the MEI driver you mentioned >when I run the setup for "mb_driver_intel_me_w10_5m", it indicates that a newer version is already installed
https://fichiers.touslesdrivers.com/49877/ME_Corporate_Win8.1_10_11.0.6.1194.zip
in this zip file, you will find 3 folders >ME_SW_MSI / MEI-Only Installer MSI and WINDOWSDriverPackages\(MEI) which corresponds to a manual installation from the device manager)
Click on the 1st ME_SW_MSI > Production > then SetupME.exe
The same goes for the other line DEV_8C22 which corresponds to the Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series SMBus Controller > https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_chipset_intel_w10.zip
But there too it might tell you that you have a newer version during installation...
Try this > https://downloadmirror.intel.com/30553/eng/setupchipset.exe
If it doesn't work, just forget it; as long as everything is working fine... there's no need to force the installation & uninstallation >>> At the risk of messing everything up.

Hello,
For the file "ME_Corporate_Win8.1_10_11.0.6.1194.zip" there is an error (see screenshot below).
For the mb_driver_chipset_intel_w10, it worked.
So things are looking better, there are no more warnings regarding the SM bus controller and the PCI serial port (see screenshot below).
We're doing not too bad, what do you think? ^^
