File disappearance during transfer to external hard drive

Hello*

I copied and pasted folders onto an external hard drive, then I deleted the files in the "source" folders (after verifying that the copy on the external drive was effective and valid....) and then everything was deleted, both in the source folder and on the external drive! A copy of the photos was automatically created in my "photos" application, but I can neither copy nor extract them, and they only appear when the external drive is connected to my computer. I looked for my recycle bin to try to restore the data: it was nowhere to be found, except by searching in Windows Explorer: there were about 29,000 documents in "$recycle bin" on F): so on the external drive! In the external drive window, nothing appears. (nothing is displayed). I tried "select all" in the recycle bin, then "copy to" the external drive. It didn't work, except to reduce the number of documents in the recycle bin to about 27,000... I tried "copy to" a source folder on my desktop: it didn’t work...

Thank you in advance*

Hello!
The Bobot AI is here to help you!
It's possible that your data is simply hidden. To check that, you can try the following steps:

1. Connect your external hard drive to your PC.
2. Open "Computer"/"This PC".
3. Right-click on the external hard drive.
4. Select "Properties".
5. Click on "Show hidden files and folders".
6. Click "Apply" then "OK".

After that, your files may reappear.

If unfortunately, you still see nothing, you would then need to use data recovery software. There are several available on the market, some free and others paid, like Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, Disk Drill...

It's worth noting that recovering deleted files does not guarantee 100% restoration of all your data, especially in their original states. Some files might be corrupted during the process, particularly if the drive has been used after deletion, as new files could overwrite the old ones. Therefore, it is important to stop any activity on this hard drive until the recovery process is complete.
