PC crash after activating Windows 10

Hello,

I used a bootable USB drive to replace Windows 7 (which displayed a black screen after startup) with Windows 10.
Windows 10 was installed and I restored all my software and files.
Everything worked quickly, but Windows wasn't fully activated. A Windows activation was required to perform certain actions.
So I wanted to activate Windows.
Unfortunately, the sticker with my product key is faded.
So I used the technique 
slmgr -rearm
with the command prompt as an administrator that I saw in a YouTube video.

But now the PC is extremely slow and restarts without my permission after about a minute.

I can access safe mode without any problem.

Can you help me solve this issue? And if possible, activate Windows?

    What I would do, since there are remnants of Windows 7, is reinstall Windows 10 by deleting all the partitions, disconnecting the internet until the end of the installation, and saying that you don’t have a license key during the install.

    Once you’re on the desktop with a clean install, reconnect the internet and see if activation happens by itself.

    You need to delete all the partitions so that there is only one unallocated space left, then you just need to click on next and the installer will create the partitions it needs.

      Do you know if I can save the partitions on a hard drive (just in case they are needed later)?

    It's hard to say, but deleting the partitions and doing a clean reinstall must have helped

    If it degrades again, I'm out of ideas :-\

        Indeed, buying a Windows 10 key for a few euros is not a ruin and avoids the hassle.

        More generally, the command slmgr.vbs /rearm only serves to reactivate a version, here Windows 7, that was not activated; other slmgr parameters allow for offline or online activation outside of this context:

        Provided that the original Windows 7 license is valid, the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is unofficial and its availability is time-limited, but it was still working not too long ago.

        This raises the question of what was done on the famous bootable USB drive: the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (if it still works) does not require going through third-party installation media (USB key, ISO on DVD) but is normally executed directly on the PC via Media Creation Tool:

        I will probably buy the Windows 10 key tomorrow, given the price, it’s true that there’s no point in being stingy.

        I couldn't upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 because I could no longer access my computer properly.
        So, I had to create a bootable USB drive to install Windows 10, and that completely fixed the issue.

        But would my old Windows 7 key have worked if I had it?

    Good evening,

    I purchased a Windows 10 product key. Unfortunately, the problem remains the same.

    When I first install Windows, everything works very well (videos, software...), there are no issues, I can enter the key...
    But once I turn off the PC for the first time, all subsequent uses have a problem: very, very slow and then automatic shutdown after a short while.
    I have tried several times doing the operation with the bootable USB drive but nothing works.
    Unable to update Windows in safe mode.

    I have absolutely no idea where the problem could be coming from. Do you have a solution?

      It works with or without activation. I even formatted the disk but it doesn't work either.

    => Press Windows + R
    => Type msinfo32 and confirm by clicking OK
    => Make the window full screen
    => Maximize the Value column and take a screenshot

    1 - The BIOS mode is in legacy. Don't you have the UEFI mode in your BIOS?
    Check HERE in the section How to check UEFI or BIOS

    2 - Check if you can update your BIOS from the HP support

    3 - Strange thing, your Windows is still not activated even though you said earlier that you entered the key?
    I don't know how you're doing it, but even when reinstalling, it should activate itself upon the first startup

      Good evening,

      There is no UEFI Firmware Settings option in the advanced options.
      The HP site tells me that there are no drivers available for my model (G62 a65sf).

      If it says that my Windows is not activated, it's actually normal. After buying the key, I activated it, but the process is very complicated; you have to fill in a whole bunch of numbers. Nevertheless, Windows was marked "Activated."
      But since it didn't change anything for my problem, I didn't enter it again when I reinstalled Windows 10 once more with a bootable USB key.
      But if you want, I can activate it again.

    This is what I'm explaining to you above. Once activated, it's permanent; you can reinstall Windows 10 20 times while deleting the partitions, it will be automatically reactivated at the first internet connection because the key is registered in the BIOS (to simplify) as long as you reinstall the same version (Home / Pro / etc...).

    So, if you activated it once, you shouldn't have to worry about activating it again with each new installation.

    Check if your HDD is in GPT or MBR:

    => Right-click on Start
    => Click on Disk Management

    Regarding your problems, I think your PC is too limited for Windows 10, especially if even HP doesn't offer drivers even for Windows 7. Are you sure it wasn't running ChromeOS?

      I don't see why it would be under ChromeOS, there's even a Windows 7 sticker on the PC.

      For me, my PC can work perfectly fine under Windows 10 because during the first use, everything worked perfectly, the experience is as pleasant as some new computers, it's quite a strange problem.
      But if you think going back to Windows 7 is a solution, I might be able to do that.

      I can only use safe mode unless I reinstall Windows, and thus:

    Oops, your message slipped through.

    You say you have a label under the PC; do you have the key recorded with it?

    How did you install Windows 10? On top of Windows 7? Because you have a Recovery partition that should normally allow you to return to factory settings => https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/c01904670 (F11 at startup of the PC)

      Unfortunately, the key has been erased, making it impossible to read any digits.

      I tried to use HP Recovery but that didn't work either (black screen). So my only choice was the bootable USB drive.

    Needed for what? To reinstall Windows 7? You don't need it, you could reinstall it the same way.

      Well, I've done all that (making sure to delete all the partitions).
      But Windows still doesn't detect any key (screenshot).

      Should I enter the activation key again?
      Should I buy another one?
      Should I restart my PC to see if that works?

    Your wifi isn't great; in fact, the interest field icon isn't activating (journal icon).
    Try connecting via Ethernet to ensure the connection is good.

      I think the connection is sufficient, the journal icon now shows the weather and I did a speed test, I am at 15Mbps down and 1Mbps up.

    In fact, it seems that the updates are responsible for the problem, which is why the PC works before the first restart.
    Windows activation does not seem to resolve the issue.

    It's strange, try updating all your hardware either from the manufacturer's site or from driverscloud, you should be able to install it in normal mode now?
