Hello,
I have an NVR (Ref K9608-w) whose hard drive (Seagate 2TB) is not recognized by the system. I suspected a failure of the drive and bought another one (Seagate Skyhawk surveillance) of 1TB, but the same problem occurred. In the end, I don't know what to do. Thank you for your help please.

Hello,
Which port is the hard drive connected to? Sata, nvme? Do you have a photo to show us, is it the only one on the PC?

Hello,
The hard drive is connected to the SATA port. I don't have a photo, but I assure you it's properly installed. I remind you that it's a digital recorder (Ref K9608-w) and not a PC.

Hello,
According to the documentation for the 9604, I'm not sure if there are any differences:
-the HDD is connected not via USB but internally via SATA, I assume that is the case (page 9), with the USB port being used for potential additional backup.
-it may happen (I have the case with a multimedia gateway) that the device doesn't want to recognize a disk unless it formats it itself and writes specific files to it.
In that case, formatting needs to be done not from a PC, but from the device's menu (pages 15 and 40), and I also assume it won’t allow the choice of the appropriate format.
Furthermore, it states for possible firmware flashing that it is done via a USB stick made bootable using (for example) HP Format Tool in FAT32: this confirms that FAT32 is recognized on the USB port.
The documents also claim that the maximum hard drive size is 6 TB, so that's not the issue.
If the connectivity is good, it might be worth reviewing the entire Setup (including any user rights).

Hello.
Having an NVR as well, the disk must be formatted from the NVR system.
Make sure not to format it with a computer or any other system, only with the NVR software. The disk will only be recognized if and only if the formatting is done with the NVR system.
You need to go to the settings page of the NVR software and look for the disk formatting section.

I want to format it from the device, but the problem is that it is not even recognized in the NVR settings.
In the NVR software settings, you should have a "Hard Drive" tab. You need to check the "Format" box and then click on "Format" and after formatting, in the Status column, you should read "Formatted".
Finally, that's how it is on mine. Otherwise, you should contact your seller or the manufacturer of your NVR.
