Hello

Like a lot of people, I subscribed to the 3-day no commitment offer on the Jacquie et Michel website. And like many others, I got screwed... figuratively speaking.

I went on the J&M site, registered on July 14, 21, and without any shame, I used the services for no more than 20 minutes. To access the "Free" 3 days, I had to enter my bank details. And of course, like many people, I didn't read the T&Cs (Terms and Conditions). Then I didn't return to the site.

Then the holidays came, during which I didn’t pay attention to my accounts. It was only in September, on September 14 to be precise, that I realized that deductions were being made by a creditor that was until then unknown to me. The company STRACEO. For my part, two deductions per month: one of €59.90 and another of €29.95. That's €180 over 2 months. That's a pretty high price for a wank.

As far as I am concerned, it was STRACEO, but after reading several forums titled "Jacquie et Michel Scam," of which there are many, I realized that other people had the same problem with other collection companies. Does J&M change collection companies regularly due to the numerous complaints they must receive? Certainly.

I spent over 5 hours trying to understand from forum to forum.
The 14-day withdrawal period having expired.
I sent an email to J&M at the address ***@*** found in the T&Cs, but have received no response up to now.

- Sending emails to J&M is useless. They will not respond, or they will tell you they can't do anything and will even threaten to file a complaint if you dispute your credit card.

- Disputing your credit card will incur additional costs and inconveniences with other creditors. I don't think J&M will file a complaint; it would be rather comical coming from crooks.

- As for filing a complaint, I don't know yet; I will do it tomorrow because I am not going to just sit back and lose €180, that's ridiculous. The same goes for my bank and my legal assistance. I will make another post to update you on the results of my actions.
- Informing the CNIL to stop such practices. I will do that too, but I don't think I will be the first.

So how to get out of this mess and stop the charges?

When you subscribe to J&M, they go through a third-party company located in Tataouine to make the deductions. Generally, a foreign country like that makes French law inapplicable.

Also, when you subscribe to J&M, the site sends you an email with your login credentials (email address) and a password like (gh2d5e).

Don't lose those credentials; they are what will help you get out of the mess you've gotten into.

You cannot unsubscribe directly on the J&M site, which I think is already illegal.

You must go to the creditor's site—so in my case, Straceo.com—and enter the credentials that J&M provided.

To validate your STRATEO account, you must change the password. The one provided by J&M is temporary. You will then have access to this subscription managed by STRACEO.

So on STRACEO, go to “subscription” then click on the little pencil icon to the right of the subscription in question.

On this new summary page of the subscription, you will find all the information concerning the transaction, the day you subscribed, the subscription email address, etc...

At the bottom of this page, click on “Unsubscribe”

STRACEO will then send you an email in your subscription inbox. In this email, there is a link (in English) to unsubscribe...

Click on this link, and it will redirect you to straceo.com to ask for confirmation of subscription cancellation.

For this, you must enter the last 4 digits of the credit card with which you subscribed to J&M, and the expiration date of the card.

And there you go, you are unsubscribed; you will receive a confirmation email stating that you will no longer be charged.

However, the amounts already paid are certainly lost.

But as I mentioned earlier, I will see tomorrow if it is possible to do something, and I will repost the results here, whether they are negative or positive.

Regards
