Connections to my La Banque Postale account

Hello,

For several months, I've had logins to my La Banque Postale account that are not mine.

When you log into the La Banque Postale app, you can see the time of the last connection.

Since last December, I've repeatedly seen logins at times when it couldn't have been me. At first, I thought I might be imagining things, but one day (last January), when I tried to log into my account using facial recognition as I had done since it became available on the app, the app was glitching. So, I tried to log in through the website, and that’s when I saw that my password wasn’t working.

Since I had been using the same password for years, I began to think that someone must be accessing my account. So, I tried to change the password, but it required the old password, and I didn't even have the option to change it. I then clicked on "forgot password" and received the new password on my phone number linked to my La Banque Postale account.

At that point, I thought it was fine; no one could access my account, especially since I had never shared my credentials and nobody had access to my phone, which is protected by a code and facial recognition.

I continued logging into my account using facial recognition and stopped paying attention to the last login times when I accessed the app.

However, at the end of July, the same thing happened. The app wasn't working, I tried the website, the password didn't work again, and I couldn't change it since I wasn't the one who had changed the password. I therefore had no way of accessing my account, so I clicked on "forgot password" again to receive the password via SMS.

I continued to log in with facial recognition, noting the new password somewhere to be sure, and by the end of August, I realized that the password had been changed again, knowing that in between, I still saw logins occurring at times when it couldn’t possibly be me.

Given that calling La Banque Postale incurs charges and I can't really afford to go over my plan every time—especially as sometimes you wait for 10 minutes and the voice server tells you to call back the whole time—I have attempted several times since January to reach them via messaging through the app or on Twitter and Facebook. It’s rare that they respond on the app, and on social media, they always say you need to call customer service.

Yesterday, I called customer service, waited 10 minutes, and the voice server hung up. I explained what was happening, and the advisor told me to hold on to see what could be done, then directed me to technical support.

I re-explained and the advisor told me that since the last time I changed it—at the end of August—the password hasn't been changed again (I haven’t been using facial recognition since the end of August). I told him that I still have logins happening at times when it can't possibly be me, and the guy told me to change the password. Lol. I re-explained that it wouldn't help since I had done that several times before calling them. The technical service guy told me that the only thing we could do was change the password. In short, despite my efforts to make him understand the situation, the only phrase he kept repeating was to change the password (we’re still at technical support). He then said, "I can transfer you to the fraud department." I said okay, except that oddly enough, for all this time, it’s only been consultations on my account; there have been no transactions (I have three accounts via this app; I never leave anything in the checking account, I always put everything in the savings account, and I make transfers when I have withdrawals or payments).

So he transferred me to someone, and I had a lady who I re-explained everything to. She told me that she had already had a client with the same situation (so similarly just consultations on her account but no transactions or anything else) and that if someone were accessing my account, it would be impossible since my account is supposedly linked to my phone, and if there were consultations from another device, I would receive a Certicode Plus notification. According to her, this issue would be due to Apple device updates since both she and I had Apple devices.

Honestly, I was left speechless because I had spent over 40 minutes on this call, which cost me nearly 10€.

Does anyone have an explanation for this, please? Or has this happened to someone else?

They can't even see from which device we are logging into the account, which is something you can see on several apps like Facebook, email services, etc.

Anyway, if anyone can help me, that would be great. Lol.

Sorry for the long message ????

Have a good day and a nice weekend

And you’re surprised that your password is known?

I bet you kept the one that the postal “robot” suggested to you!

Change your password and make it stronger

La Banque Postale only offers numeric passwords... and no, it was my own password, not a "robot password" from the post office.

        But thanks for your input...

    Hello,

La Banque Postale has a good security system. First of all, you need to provide your identification number, which is a sequence of numbers, and once on the site, you enter your code, which is also a sequence of numbers.

The code grid where the numbers are placed changes all the time.

From time to time, to access your account, you need to provide the code sent to your mobile via SMS.

One can imagine that their identification number can be found; then how to find the secret code since if there's an error, access to the account is blocked?

You surely have a financial advisor at La Banque Postale, so make an appointment to resolve this issue. Come with your account papers and your identity card.

The security system of La Poste is undoubtedly one of the most reliable among banks.

I know people who have taken out a mortgage and who went with the best offer (which can vary depending on the application, the time of year, the banks' policies, the captain's age...), and that best offer was when they made their request at La Poste.

No civil servant is required to have an account at La Poste, but on the other hand, even if one is not, one would have an account in this scenario.

I'm not a client, but the authentication and double security system described seems the same as in all banks.
