Hello,
I have about 600 MP3 files in a folder on my PC that I would like to randomly save to a USB stick to listen to in my car.
Is there a software for that?

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 92.0.4515.159

Hello
You can try with CDBurnerXP
Open CDBurnerXP
Menu create audio CD (menu 3)
Drag and drop the MP3s at the bottom
Right click select all
Right click random tracks... cool!
Files save playlist.m3u
We have a nice playlist in disorder!!!
Back to main menu
Create an ISO (menu 1)
Drag and drop the playlist and answer yes to add the files
Select all (the display is in order but the playlist is scrambled)
Files save as ISO format
Open the ISO file with 7zip
There it should be mixed
Extract to the USB drive .end: well then!!!
Good luck
I can't test it, I don't have a car!!!
Ciao ciao

Hello,
Normally, if your car can read MP3s, it has an audio player. This should have a function to play the audio tracks randomly.

Most recent cars have the ability to play from a device (either via Bluetooth or USB) in random order if it is the car's software that manages it. In other words, if your device (smartphone or MP3 player) is the player and only sends the audio signal, you need to use an app that allows this solution.
For example, VLC or Shuffle Player, etc.... For MP3 players, it depends; some have a random function and others do not.

If I tell you no...
I have a car from late 2018 that still runs Android 4 with a processor and storage space to match.
You can still (by cheating, since it's locked in factory settings) install other apps, but only those compatible with Android 4 and as long as they aren't too demanding for the capabilities of the device.
Of course, there's still mirroring via Android Auto with a suitable app, but there, of course, from a smartphone, not from a USB key.

No but what I'm telling you is that you have 2 options:
1 - shuffle from the device that sends the sound signal
2 - shuffle from your car's app which apparently doesn't work
A USB stick allows your car to manage it, and if you can't do that, the only way is to use an app from, for example, your smartphone.

Regarding the installation of an application in the multimedia unit itself:
- we cannot go through Google Play which irreparably crashes the unit and, in any case, we won't find apps for Android 4 there.
- it’s no better trying to connect to an apk archive site from this unit, since by default the unit prohibits the installation of any application.
Therefore, we need to:
- I'm willing to be the guinea pig but I'm feeling lazy; we need to find an apk for Android 4 that does the job.
Even if we find one, it will still be complicated since I assume we will need to tell this application (and via a file explorer that we will also have to install, that part is easier) the path to the USB device to read:
while driving, that's not necessarily advisable.
- and above all, since there is no other solution, install this or these apks via a USB stick.
This involves 1 or 2 methods exploiting vulnerabilities on this unit, which have since been patched by Honda.
So this is only possible on certain models and years; the only way to check is to have the car model, its year, the embedded Android version (which could be 4.04 or 4.22), and the associated build version.

Hello,
We are getting lost in your interventions.
There are, as already pointed out, only 2 types of possibilities:
- Launch a "shuffle" type player on the multimedia center.
Either we need to find a version of the mentioned Shuffle Player compatible with Android 4.04 or 4.22 at most, or we need to go searching among the few multimedia players already tested, and I don't know if they have this function:
http://www.cmdroid.com/
But it's anything but simple, since we must first be able to install a file explorer on this center and then one of these applications.
- Do it from your smartphone via Android Auto in the car.
There, the problem is that the content to be read should not be on a USB stick but on the smartphone itself.
Moreover, I don't quite understand your comment that it would work but wouldn't record a random play: if a play order is recorded, by definition, it is no longer random.
In the end, there is only one truly simple solution: plug your USB stick into the car, but then, the playback is no longer random.

Even if this operation results in obtaining mp3 files that are directly playable on the USB drive and not a playlist with a questionable fate, we will not have a random playback of the files in question but a random recording from which they will always be played in the same order.
