Only 1 HDMI port for two screens. Solved

Question

Hello, I recently bought a second screen but I noticed that I only had one HDMI port on my computer (desktop). So I bought a device that allows me to connect 2 cables, but it doesn't do what I thought; it has a button and whenever I press it, the activated screen switches to the other one, but the screens are never active at the same time. The device is a Portta HDMI Switch. However, what I want is for both screens to display different things from my computer simultaneously (an extended display across 2 screens, with one screen for my video games and the other for internet/Discord or other). What should I get (preferably from the Amazon website)? Thank you for your help.

Hello, you need to connect the screen to another video port on the computer (even if you have to use an adapter); to my knowledge, it's not possible otherwise.

Hello  you only have one HDMI port, okay, but on your graphics card you should also have either a VGA port or a DVI port, or both  plug one of your screens into VGA or DVI, and the other into HDMI  or one into VGA and the other into DVI, leaving the HDMI free   at worst, on a desktop PC, it's not complicated to change the graphics card for a more complete one in terms of connectivity, it's all a matter of budget  otherwise, depending on the available space in your PC  see here as an example, a card that will give you 4 HDMI ports, to be plugged in addition to your current graphics card   GT710-4H-SL-2GD5 €89.20 + €8.84 Shipping

Yes, you can use it, I recommend DVI to HDMI, it's more reliable, and you won't have any quality loss (FHD for sure in any case).

re  HDMI to VGA or DVI be careful, the direction DVI to HDMI is not the same as HDMI to DVI 1) what connection do you have on your current graphics card? 2) what connection on the second screen, the one that will be affected by the absence of a second HDMI on this second screen, if you have a DVI port, then you don't need an adapter if you have a DVI port on your PC (on the graphics card) DVI will work just as well as HDMI, why do you want to insist on connecting this second screen via HDMI, with adapters everywhere?
